Q: Is the game still updated?
A: Not lately... for a long time... 2 years ago, the "OB23: Deviled Eggs update". Some think there might be a comeback, but I doubt it.
Q: Is the game still played?
A: Well...
There's no real number of players I can find, but from Steam's launcher:
Last 30 Days - Avg. Players 680 / Peak Players - 1,247
March 2022 - Avg. Players 681 / Peak Players - 1,290
Now mind you... that doesn't include people playing off of the other launchers on Discord, PlayStation, Xbox... so I have no idea how many actual players are out there... so who knows.
Thanks for the reply and information! So, with what you said about player count I'm assuming there are full lobbies that is if you have played lately to know that?
I also had just seen something about a Dev post about why they don't update the game and how all their other main projects made more money than Realm Royale in short time frames and such. I found it interesting that the Dev's easily gave up on it without keeping in mind that when Realm Royale was released it was up against tough competition such as H1Z1, PUBG, Fortnite, and Warzone, etc. These other games they had used for comparison didn't and don't have near as much competition. Like, is Overwatch much of a competition to Paladins? Not really.
So, overall with the information you've told me thus far I'm considering re-downloading it, but if you do know if there are full lobbies then I'll probably end up re-downloading it for sure. Don't wanna waste my time like I did with H1Z1 to find out there's only 3-5 people per match lol
Do you think it'll be a big update or a small update with no content addition?
I and my team play almost every other night...
Full lobbies?..... no I can't say there are full lobbies.
The game does have bots... how many per game is debatable since there's no way to experience all 90 players before the end of the game... some claim there are many, some say there are only a few... only the Developers know for sure.
"Waste ( of ) Time" is a personal preference... only you will know for sure when you play.
I play this game everyday, Still a handful of players but I have seen a lot of bots.
So, I ended up re-installing it, and played 2 matches just a few minutes ago. Got like 2nd and 4th place surprisingly with me trying to figure out how everything works. Got a good idea though, it's quite a neat looting system and how you can use the forge for weapons and runes, etc. I think i'll definitely be playing some more soon, it's quite fun! The two solo matches I had played were 90 players, but like you said there is probably some bots.
Yeah, that would be great and I think it would bring a lot of people back and new players to try it out. I just think it's interesting how the devs would compare it to other games they are working on when Realm Royale had and has the hardest competition being a Battle Royale. It's obvious that they threw their own twist on the game and it makes it more fun than your average Battle Royale. I like the abilities, runes, graphics, and weapons thus far. I heard there was an Engineer character but he's been removed? Would of liked to play him, who knows maybe they'll bring him back? I am also curious if there is lore or a story behind the map? Just from looking up and around when you're in the drop ship is quite cool in of it self!
The game is really fun and it's unique aspects set it apart from other BR games. Hopefully an update will drive some players back.
Players have been saying there's going to be an update for over a year now. Consider this game effectively abandoned. The dev team was moved to other projects.
Projects that are abandoned can be reborn/brought back. With a new update and a fresh hype train, this game will easily bring players back to it. There's something about this game that's just pure magic and fun. My group still plays because it's one of the nicer BR out there despite the lack of updates.
Never lose hope. Just gotta be patient. We've lasted this long already!
Is it alive? Ehh, it's alive and well if you turn on crossplay but the main fun nowadays seems to be the community focused tournaments.
