What is the intended path for the whale room? Can you do it with bubble jumps?

I gave up and didn't return until after I had the remote & bouncy ball, but that felt like a "cheesy" way of doing that room .

Since the only whale room I know of has nothing that responds to the Remote, I'm afraid I don't understand where you are referring to. Is this the room directly above where the flame is?

Yes, I meant that I had found the remote and the ball items at that point, I only used the ball in the room.

I was just curious if there was another way of doing it that didn't require kinda hidden items.

I haven't tried to platform by riding bubbles while getting sprayed by water , but it makes sense that it might work.

perhaps you can also do it with just bubble wand and yoyo?

Actual solution: Throw the Disc from the right side to break the stalagmite, then throw it again, so it flies underneath the 4 buttons, then wait above them. The whale will eventually spray water, which pushes the Disc upward.

It's worth noting that, due to timing, you may need to try this more than once - the first three times I did this, the whale started spraying at the wrong time, and the disc *missed* all the buttons as it was pushed upward :(
