Red crow buttons & the crow portal

I have 56 eggs and a few bunnies, so I'm still chipping away at the game. But there's one thing that I can't seem to find any info on and it's driving me nuts.

Right after the egg room, before you reach the crow portal, there is some sort of device with a two-tooth skull symbol and three rectangles that look like lights waiting to be activated. It seems like they must be related to those buttons that piss off crows, as they also have two-toothed skulls under them, and it would make sense for a crow-based puzzle to unlock something near the crow portal.

To the right of the chameleon boss, near the bear portal, there are three rooms in a row with crows hanging out on platforms.

1. The leftmost has 4 crows who aggro if your spring hits the red button. Obvious, right? Just don't press it.
2. The middle has 8 crows. The puzzle in this room does not seem to involve the red button at all, I mean you can just hop over it, which kind of begs the question... what's it for?
3. The rightmost does not seem to have a red button, just 14 crows laid out over 4 platforms. edit: checked the corner by hopping on bubbles, it's just a corner ~~But in the upper left there are some vines which could be concealing a hidden path. In fact, on the map, there is a break in the edge of the map; a corner is missing.
Most of the exterior corners of the map are filled in, although there are others that have a missing corner, so it could be nothing.~~


I haven't been able to find this in any guides. It's driving me nuts. Is there a way to get past those 14 crows and find a third red button to press, thus activating the device posted in the tunnel to the crow portal? The only catch is that when I press the two red skull buttons I can find, nothing seems to light up on that device, so perhaps there's a totally different explanation. Either way, I need help before my mind gets lost in the animal well forever.

In the dog area there is a crow room with two red buttons, but one of them doesn't seem to be accessible, and neither of them have the skull symbol.

The skull icon is only there for the first red button(s), to help tutorialize that it shouldn't be pressed.

This has nothing to do with crows. You'll probably figure it out eventually if you pay more attention in general.
It has something to do with other rooms.

2. That red button is there as the tutorial that pressing the red button angers crows. That's it.
3. There's absolutely no hidden red button there.
