Near the House after interacting with the squirrel, it gave me a Stopwatch. Was I supposed to get the item in my inventory?

No, the stopwatch is a passive item, it simply shows your elapsed time in the pause screen for the current save.

I think it's bugged, the squirrel is gone but the item is missing and I have no timer on my screen.

I picked it up once, died/restarted my game or something, and the item was gone; squirrel was back, but didn't drop it this time. Now I have no stopwatch and no timer, sick

Other cause, I accidently threw a firework; maybe the code for the squirrel caused it to get spooked but not drop the item
