Inaccessible chest in ostrich area (?)

Minor spoilers: In the ostrich area next to the G-flame there's moving platforms powered by the ostrich. In the leftmost room there are two switches that open a door with a chest behind it. After you defeat the ostrich the blocks stop moving and you can't get to the switches anymore because they block the paths.

Unless i'm missing something, it's completely impossible to get the chest even if the room is accessible through a shortcut. I've tried exiting the game and dying to reset the blocks but they're just stuck in the way. Any help?

Does the animal flute have anything to do with it? I see there's arrows on the wall in the other room but playing those notes doesn't really do anything either

No. Those arrows are for a separate puzzle.

yes you can move them afterwards. the arrows are a separate puzzle but it's still required to get the actual thing you need. the arrows can be applied to something in this area now

I thought the same thing - don't worry, it is solvable! Here are a few hints:

1. What might that yellow pad in the room be used for?
2. You need a special item for it.
3. It is related to the caged cats.
4. Have you seen those curious arrow patterns spread throughout the area?

SOLUTION:
There are a total of 5 arrow patterns spread throughout the Ostrich/Cat area. You must play the corresponding patterns on the Animal Flute to free the caged cats. Once you have freed all cats, you must locate big Mama Cat. She is pretty well hidden and only accessible using the Spinning Top. In return for rescuing all of her kittens, she will grant you the new Wheel item. You can use the wheel on the yellow pad to control the Ostrich blocks, which lets you solve the puzzle.

If it's to the left of the where the ostrich was, how do I get there when the ostrich platforms don't move for me to get there?
