Finding a "Autohotkey" equivalent for the Steam Deck to get around the lack of rebinding is a nightmare
I've been beating my head against the wall for hours to trying to find a way to rebind the keyboard on the Steam Deck.
Steam overlay only seems to work for controller button> send keystroke and not keystroke > different keystroke.
No "Autohotkey" flatpak equivalent in the discover store.
It resists all attempts to install "Autokey" (a linux equivalent) in terminal.
I try to disable write protection of the immutable file system but I'm told that any update to the steam deck will undo any changes you make this way.

The program you are looking for is called "Input Remapper" (at least it works in desktop mode unsure about in game mode). You'll have to install it manually from the AUR following the directions here: https://github.com/sezanzeb/input-remapper?tab=readme-ov-file#manjaroarch (to install yay you can follow these instructions here: https://github.com/Jguer/yay/issues/2098 )

Thank you, I may do this. I say may because I actually have discovered something already on the steam deck called "xbindkeys". I just need to figure out how to use it.

And I can't get yay to install because dependecy pacman>6.1 is missing.
Searching doesn't pull up any straightforward way to update pacman.
There are terminal commands that use "pamac-aur" and "pcsx2" but those return "target not found".
What a headache.
