do you have to telephone save to keep eggs?

did the platforming 'puzzle' with the two herons, got the egg, progressed further into a spike room and ended up dying bc bubble wand 'flight' is rly hard. I hadn't kept track of my egg count but does anyone know if eggs are 'saved' despite not saving via the telephone? or do I have to go thru the heron room again

well I redid the room and the chest was open, so I'd say they save despite not saving at the telephone

telephones are basically respawn locations, no matter what you were doing when you died you keep it. Any chests you discovered, any areas on the map you went to, they all remain found.
