The Bubble Jump Mechanic is proposital?
I discovered by accident and I feel like... I shouldnt know this move so soon? Or maybe it shouldn't exist? I feel too powerfull knowing such a simple but god like technique

I don't know, this game is weird (but in a good way)

If it feels broken or like cheating to you and ruins your experience...

What's so difficult for you to NOT use it then? Why push the burden on the developer who intended for that mechanic?

I'm not interested in setting myself artificial handicaps (e.g. trying to complete goldeneye only using the klobb etc.) - I want to play the full game in the manner as intended by the developer, because I'm assuming that is what would give me maximum enjoyment from my purchase.

And here lies the paradox: because there are plenty of people here who have stated that they are glad *not* to have discovered the infinite bubble mechanic, and feel their experience would have been less had they done so. And there are just as many others, like me, who discovered the mechanic immediately but are confused that it _apparently_ lets you skip pretty much of the platforming and puzzle sections in a game that is predominantly advertised as a puzzle platformer.

So, either the developer intended it, and it apparently makes the game experience worse.
Or, it wasn't an intended mechanic, so it's a bug that needs fixing.

EIther way, that's feedback for the developer.

It's a discussion about a mechanic in the game we play, why do you act like it's some angry hateful comment telling the dev to remove it? We are just sharing our experiences in a game we all like..

Calling it cheating is a bit goofy.... most rooms with mobility puzzles have at least 2 different ways to navigate them, often 3 or 4, depending on which basic items you have. Some of those methods are harder than others. The designers are fine with that. If you don't like chaining bubbles, don't do it.

Has anyone just asked the developer on this? He clearly knew it existed, from the hummingbirds, and the ghost bird at the top of the well that you need the Lantern to get past in the first place. One of the first things I did when I discovered the trick was to jump back and forth until I painfully clawed my way up the well through timed jumps, and lo, a very intentional and insurmountable obstacle.

Billy Basso said in an AMA that it *wasn't* originally intended (And that you don't *need* to use it at all), but he kept it in because it was fun: https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/1cybe5t/we_are_billy_basso_and_dan_adelman_creator_of/l58lmng/?context=10000

Thanks for finding that AMA, and the "parallel design" goes a long way to explain why players' experience of the game differs so much. I kinda wish I'd been in the camp who didn't discover it, but never mind - I've refunded the game now.

I feel like I'm having a very different experience than the usual route most other players are. I beat the chameleon and wolf first, and don't have the bubble wand yet. I've been traversing most of the map by riding my own frisbee throws. I get the impression I should have the bubble wand way before the remote control.

I also discovered it very early and felt like I was cheesing the game XD. First thing I did by chance was go left out of the beginning area and happened to stumble into the bubble wand. Played with it for a bit but then I noticed the swan room and wondered how to get across. That's when I noticed if I jumped and blew a bubble at the same time I could chain jumps indefinitely with the right movement. I managed to grab the bunny that was hidden back there using that technique (which I think was the intended way)

I actually managed to get to the "top" of the well this way by bubble jumping with the basic bubble wand. The owl blocked me in but I suppose I could still grab lantern and go into that area without beating the final boss. I did grab the pedometer that way before beating the boss.

With basic wand I noticed the easy way was to press both buttons simultaneously, but the slightly harder way was faster if you jumped and then pressed the button about halfway up your jump.

wtf you and me had literally the exact same start. I did the same, I felt like a genius using the bubbles lol. But I thought I was doing it the "right way" and the game was just very hard...
You're me.
i thought this game was hella hard, because of the bubble wand requiring us to double jump to specific areas and you cant touch the wall, the vines, or anything really....plus you have to face the way you want to jump before doing the bubble jump...(w/2 buttons on the controller)
by the time i got to the end and discovered the other wand i was happy but mad at the same time. 😅
I shouldve just beat the game early and headed to post game, because this game doesnt want you to enjoy doing everything in one run. 😭

Ikr? I was genuinely frustrated at how hard the game was but still was doable so didn't give up 😂

Yeah, so is cheating in one way or the other...
Still feels broken that you can bypass so many puzzles by just bubble jumping past them...
Like... that one door next to the dog, i think you need to get past something, on a rather long route, taking like... minutes! Or you know... you just jump over it!

Love the mechanic and how it works gameplay wise, but it SURE feels like cheating! But man... Don't compare speedruns to normal gameplay, especially when the dev even said "You were not supposed to ever solve the game"
this isn't a hard game, it's not meant to be hard, you're meant to play how you would like to. Anything that brings out creativity in the player is a huge W for the developer, casual puzzle games seek very high completion rates because the player's attention is kept the entire way through. the game doesn't force anything on you, and wants you to comfortably enjoy it at your own pace.
