Applications for a specific tool
I've owned the B. Ball for quite a while now, and except for making it somewhat chaotic (and perhaps easier) to break spikey rocks, I have not found any practical use for it. It doesn't damage "opponents", it doesn't distract anything and it doesn't let me use it as a super fast way of traveling.

What use does this item have? Vanity?

there is a specific block with a distinct look that it can interact with. there's some near the area where you found it

I got the use for this item immediately but that's only because I was familiar with what its referencing, is breakout becoming somewhat obscure? Im generally not a fan of puzzles that involve using non-general knowledge found outside the game but I thought this was something most people who play games would know so gave it a pass, but maybe that's not the case? Regardless its probably the lamest item in the game even discounting the pain of finding spots to actually use it.

Well, I figured out what you mean. I also found the said block. I mean I did play a ton of breakout games in the past but I'm not immediately thinking of it when I see balls. At least I haven't slammed mine into bricks yet and they disappeared. I more so thought the brown plates at some of the places where the Kangaroo can be found are a hint or the correct use. Or some of the damaged looking walls.

I've played Breakout and Arkanoid and such, but absolutely did not realize there are "special" blocks until I read about it in a guide when I got stuck finding the last eggs. The "special" blocks being grey makes them just look like regular stone, not "oh hey, these blocks are different"! If they had brighter colors, I would have made the association on my own. Or maybe if there were more than a mere 2 special blocks in the room you find it in, one of them would have gotten hit randomly when I was first messing around with the item and clued me in. As is, too obscure IMHO.

As beautiful as the games dynamic lighting it definitely doesn't help in cases like this, there should probably be something it the options menu that lets you completely turn dynamic lighting off (if thats even possible given the custom engine) these blocks practically blend into everything else, same with the top blocks.
