Tricking the cat and doing the challenge before it even gets there is hilarious, when you watch your streamer of choice die there 20 times :P
Aside from making that link to the mockup disc, it also requires a little bit of planning and memorizing of the route. Which forces you to familiarize with the world around you more. It increases a players focus on his surroundings and is also very exciting (if a little stressful) and super rewarding if you solve it.
Great puzzle design imo.
But you cant tell me that the logical leap to use the M.Disc or to think about the ghost after seeing the statues in the flame room are crazier than anything in those two games. I mean the ghost shrine isnt even far away.
Some of La-Mulanas puzzles were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crazy in comparison to this.
The solution is "play flute", "wait minute", "go to shrine without annoying ghost"
If you are "planning", you are doing it wrong. :P
No, everyone understood you perfectly. The issue that they're having is that it was completely and utterly obvious to them, to the point it was not actually a puzzle at all, and therefore they are baffled that this thread exists.
Genuinely shocked that there was even one person who agreed with you, honestly, let alone several.
I suppose I can't disagree with this, given how incredibly obvious they seem to be; there's no real puzzle value there anyway, so why not just idiot-proof it by calling it the "Mock Disc Shrine" for folks like OP.
Granted, it was very reasonable for the dev to expect no one to be confused by this. Now that we have a counterexample, perhaps he can patch it.
Developer hates dogs.
What really stopped me from connecting the dots, was that the shape of the M. disc shrine.
It's the only item in the game where the key doesn't match the shape of the key hole!!
