Limited tool quick select

Hey all, i tried searching this topic and im unsure if it hasnt been brought up or if im not searching the correct terminology.

i dont know about the rest of you, but switching tools gets old real fast. especially if you have to do some fast switching. some tools are just so multifunctional outside of only finding secrets. i use the stick to move and was wondering if there has been any talks of ,say for example, using the d pad as a tool quick select.

like so. i spoilered the tools incase ppl dont have them. it would also be nice if any tools in quick select are removed from the tool cycle menu (R!, L1) so theres less items to go through.
those are the 4 i would consider on my quick select, but you can place anything there. i think i would really improve the flow of exploration if i dont have to keep cycling while moving and missing either something on the overworld or skipping over the item. pausing every time is even less appealing. just something to consider. ive been having a lot of fun exploring and ive got 11 tools and 54 eggs or so, but every time i think about doing some more exploration, i think about certain sections where i have to switch between tools that somehow feel opposite of each other so i cant "improve" the flow, and i end up doing something else instead because"ive already looked there, and its a pain to get to where i think i might find something(its hard to get to so there must be a secret" mentality)

When you open the inventory, it pauses game play, if you were looking for timed based things.

item wheel would be really useful. left and right is practically useless mid/late game when you have too many items
