Enter activation code - but there is none...
So, when I try to start the game it quits after a second. When I try to run the exe file with admin rights - or set it to always get admin rights and start from within the Steam client - Uplay shows me a dialog and demands an activation code. But in this case there is no "CD Key" option in the Steam library for this game. Anyone else has this problem?

I have this same issue. Not sure where to progress. With Elite Dangerous there was a link on the right side near 'DLC' that provided the required retail key but not in this case.

When you start the game, a Steam Overlay box will pop up with the activation key

Yeah, I read that. But UPlay login and everything worked fine. it seems to me Steam is not providing the CD key when calling UPlay. I could understand a failed activation attempt due to overloaded servers, sure. But it looks like I don't even get that far, like the key is missing and the activation attempt can't even happen.

No, it doesn't, sadly.

Already tried that.

I guess Steam is actually out of keys and Ubisoft (maybe due to overloaded servers) can't provide new ones fast enough. Lol.

Do any of you guys see a "CD key" option here? I don't.

EDIT: Nevermind, I also don't see it for other UPlay games.

I just closed Steam, reopened it and when I launched the game it brought up the Uplay link to Steam option that fixed my issue.

I tried that two times now and also restarted uplay. no dice.

Ok, what worked for me is the following:

- Do NOT start the AC:O exe as administrator. This wiill result in the "insert activation code" message.

- Start Steam.exe as administrator. This will make it possible to start the game.

So I've put 40 hours into odyssey over the last week or so, and uplay suddenly decides to start asking for an activation code... Restarting steam, verifying local files, and inning as admin do not help. Any other thoughts?

Same here. Seems like Ubisoft is having issues on their end. All of a sudden all my games disappeared on uplay and odyssey asks for activation again.

What worked for me:

- run Steam as administrator.
- do NOT run UPlay as administrator (if you have set this option for the exe file, you need to undo it).
