I can't tame knocked out animals and I have the tame skill

I've never tamed an animal before and just started trying to test it out the last few days, but I'm unable to get the option to show up. I'll bring the animal to the same state as you do with humans to get them to join your crew and I've only tried it with non-elite animals. So far I've tried taming lions and bears. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong at all so if somebody could give me some clues as to what might be going on that would be awesome!

Sorry to hear you are having difficulty taming animals in game. From the information you have provided you seem to be going through the correct procedure.

Try unequipping your weapon and taking the animal down with fisticuffs.
That's how I tamed my first wolf 2 hours ago. ^_^

had the same problem, the icon to tame the animal just does not showed up, try to meditate next to the animal, it worked for me

Any update on this? I still can't tame a boar. I tried meditating but nothing happened.

Currently experiencing this issue, the only way to get it to work is to respec. Seems to only happen when the tamed animal dies. Maybe when a tamed animal dies your character still has a tamed animal flag even though it doesnt actually have a tamed animal? I can provide videos/screenshots if you guys still want it.

Hey this already works smoothly on my end.

This problem still exists, May of 2020. I had it too. However, elsewhere I read that the animal can't be connected to a quest. After I heeded that, it worked. My idea was that I would steal enemies' wolves in the middle of combat. I guess they did not mean it to work like that.

I also tried that but you can't tame the enemy's animals while you're in a quest.

I took a video - how would you like me to send you it? The option does not pop up and it is July 2020.

I had exactly the same issue. Its cause however seems to be 'Another wolf another day' quest. If you have it and didn't complete it yet, try to complete it first. Worked for me.
