i did something that worked for me so maybe it will work for you. i have i7-3770 cpu 16g ram and nvidia GTX 1060 6G windows 7. just like many of you my game worked fine played for houres. stopt and later tryed to play again and it kept crashing at the loading screen. now it might sound weird but it actually worked for me and also on origins ( i had similair problems with origins ) first i run the game as administrator without using the shortcut. then i dont touch the mouse or keyboard and patiently wait for the game to get to the screen where it sais press any button to continue.... i wait a few seconds and press it. now if i would click fast on options to change settings the game would crash same as it would on the loading screen. so instead i move my mouse very slowly to the options button click on it and dont move my mouse. after a few seconds i slowly move my mouse to the resolution bar. and slowly click it to the lowest resolution possible. when the resolution changed i can start and load the game fine. after loading i run arround a bit to make sure it dosent crash and then change the resolution back to my faforite setting.

like i said it sounds like im treating the game as a old diesel car. but without jokes. it fixed my crashes and i finished the game just now. i hope it helps.

and a friend of mine also had problems. his game crashes when your in the loading screen with the fire torch thing. he fixed it by changing the
FullscreenWidth=1366
FullscreenHeight=768

to

FullscreenWidth=1280
FullscreenHeight=720

and when in game he changed it back trough the option menu.

Hi all. I just wanted to drop this here in case it helps anyone else. Like a lot of you I was seeing my game crash at launch after the 1.0.7 update. I tried EVERYTHING that Ubisoft recommended with nothing to show. On a hunch I checked to see if anything had changed recently with my CPU driver and found that the most recent Windows update had updated my i7 6700 driver. I rolled it back to version 21.20.16.4534 and voila. Back to ancient Greece. If you're seeing the game crash after the splash screen, this may be the solution for you. Hope it helps.

Hello fello gamers. I had the same problem, installed all drivers, rolled back drivers, changed ini file. Didnt work. Then moved game on C drive and voillaaa. Sounds really weird but that fixed game. Its now launching without any problems. I had it installed on my data drive.
MOVE GAME TO C!!!!!!!! And just run it :D:steamhappy:

I also learned that if you'r harddrive isn't a "physical hardrive", like configure to be a storage or something like that (almost every computer with 2 or + storage are configure like this) it wont start or create the same problems. So install ACO in you'r main drive and hopefully it will be good. Sorry for my bad english btw o/
ಠ_ಠ WAT !?!? Dec 29, 2018 @ 3:18am
just install the game to a non storage drive, for example to the drive where you have windows installed. I had the same problem also with AC discovery mode....

Ubisoft told me that. You could try this but...they said that too

Hi myrall1!

Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Customer Support.
Many of our games rely on external code libraries such as DirectX, Microsoft Visual Studio C++, and the Microsoft .NET Framework. If you're attempting to run a game that requires these libraries and are encountering a crash or other error, it may be due to the necessary libraries or versions of these libraries not being installed on your PC.

Running Windows Update will install the latest versions of DirectX and .NET Framework that are compatible with your operating system.

For Windows 10:1. Press the Windows key and I at the same time.
2. Navigate to Update & Security.
3. Click Check for updates, to the right.

For the Microsoft Visual Studio C++ redistributables, you'll want to first check to see which packages you already have installed. You can do this easily from the Control Panel!

1. Press the Windows key and R at the same time.
2. In the search bar, type Control Panel and hit Enter.
3. On the window that pops up, click Uninstall a program.
4. Scroll through the list and take note of the entries that begin with Microsoft Visual C++. There may be few, but be diligent!
5. Once you've got a list, you can uninstall the programs one by one by right-clicking the entry and selecting Uninstall.
6. Now that we've got a clean slate to work with, we can reinstall those files. Click on each applicable link below to download and reinstall the files you've just taken note of.

Note: Once you press Download on some of these links, you'll be prompted to select individual files to download. If you're running a 32-bit system, you'll only need to run the x86 file. If you're running a 64-bit system, you'll need to download and run both the x86 and x64 files. Lastly, you won't need to download any vcredist_arm files you see.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010
x86: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555
x64: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=14632

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1
x86 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328
x64 - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13523

Microsoft Visual C++ 2012
x86 & x64 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679

Microsoft Visual C++ 2013
x86 & x64 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

Microsoft Visual C++ 2015
x86 & x64 - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

So if someone want to try..it's up to you...i will not just for one game.
ZzozZ Dec 29, 2018 @ 11:30am
It's just a cleaning of the C++ and reboot. But all the game will need to find and re-install those folder anyway's. if the games need it so!?! I don't gnow...you can try and tell us.

Change to borderless window and if on Win7, start in Win7 compatibility mode. Worked for me.
I just have problem when i run it, the error pops up like ACOdyssey.exe has stopped working. I have AMD A8-3850, all other newest titles works perfectly with it... And 8gb ram, RX 470 4gb... How can i fix that issue?
PurpleHayes Jun 23, 2019 @ 2:22pm
Hey Folks... I cant get past the first opening cut screen video as it starts up.... comes from the water and then shoreline of the cliffs and then crash to desktop.

I am not HW restricted: Alienware 17m, i9, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia 2080..... not my system.

I see two things in the threads though, game installed on the same drive as windows (mine is not) and starting in border less windowed mode.

I have all my steam games installed on my second HD... is this the primary issue?

cheers

EDIT:

I moved the install to C drive - no help

I tried running in border less windowed mode again - no help

I cant play this game and it is really brutal.... seriously what could possibly be my issue... please help folks.

Any dev people on board? Whats up...
