Assassins Creed Odyssey - PC Launch Crashing On Startup

Just got the gold edition for Assassins Creed Odyssey, cannot load into the game, it's crashing on startup

Ok I want to say I have the same crash issues, and I have the Ultimate edition bought on steam to make sure I am on topic, I tried to post a possible fix earlier but I got a warning for going off topic and my post was deleted

Set your settings to borderless window. watch the magic happen. this solved all my crash issues.

I had something similar happening to me with Origins... and the culprit was Windows update KB43909. After several Windows updates, there was one that removed 43909 and after that I haven´t had a single crash on any games. Also changing the resolution to borderless helps with the crashing.

In your Documents folder, you´ll find the game folder. Change the info on: ACOdyssey.ini

At this point, it's pretty clear that the issue is on older cpu's. They've added something new or used some kind of library that isn't supported, because almost all of the reports of people crashing on startup are from 1st generation intel cpu's.

Ubisoft has just today decided to increase system requirements to list intel 2nd gen or higher.

However some 1st gen i7's are apparantly capable of running it.

Apparantly the crew 2 and steep had the same thing, and it was fixed via a patch post release, however the official response here is that no plans to do so are known for odyssey...

Also Phenom II cpu's are now confirmed to not run it, and won't get support patched in.
