constant crashing
I can only play for about 10-15min before the game crashes to desktop. The game is fine and runs flawless up until it doesn't. I've been seeing a lot of people complain about this issue. What is causing it, and what is the fix?

Every computer is made up of components that can be used interchangeably on top of that the configuration is specific to each PC, so for the most part each crash is specific to each PC.
We cant know what is causing a crash without looking into it please create a support ticket with the requested files so that we can look into it.

Just know that that is exactly what I have been doing for 3.5 weeks with 9+ different ppl from your support team and it has achieved NOTHING!

In fact your support team had to create a second case because my first one was FULL of dxdiag/msinfo/screenshot attachments SMH

My computer is well above the minimum specs, it is in not an exotic configuration:

Corsair One Pro
Win 10 home latest drivers, running as a clean boot admin user with all non-MS services disabled
reccomended versions of directX/.net etc
Steam/ACO/Uplay executables all set to run as admin
Game & play installed in default location on C: SSD
i7 7700K with no overclocking, 16GB ram
GTX1080 latest drivers, onboard intel GFX 630 disabled
No bluetooth enabled

other heavy titles are rock solid/never crash, MonsterHunterWorld, Tekken 7, SC6 etc etc

all the evidence points towards ubisoft changing the software in a way that causes these crashes

All this is true.

I'd have to agree with cocara4a-BG that something changed along the way during the patches. Prior to patch 1.0.7 everything worked flawlessly. 1.0.7 to current has been getting progessively worse with the crashes and I went from ultra settings prior to with 1.0.6 to having to turn down so many things to just get the game to run a little after 1.0.7.

If i could revert to patch 1.0.6 or if they could find the issue thats causing the random CTD i'd be a happy camper.

P.S. I've tried everything from testing it with nvidia drivers 399 to 417, fresh game install, fresh uplay install, etc. Nothing seems to really completely fix the issues.

I've just stopped playing the game for the time being. Ubisoft seems reluctant to accept responsibility for the issue. As they keep passing the buck off on peoples machines, If it was JUST my PC or just a handful of others I could maybe get behind that. But just this comment thread alone shows me it is on their end. Having something to do with a recent patch update. Hopefully they will actually look into it and come up with a patch to fix it. It's too bad I can't get a refund from steam now that I have played too long to return it.

I've fixed my issues. Apparently the game doesn't want to go over a certain ram usage after patch 1.0.7 and tries to load data onto the pagefile. Well for me since I run all SSD windows 10 defaulted to no pagefile which makes sense. However, because ACOD tries to access a non existant pagefile the game would crash. I ended up having to put a 2gb pagefile on the c drive for the game to work. Prior to 1.0.7 this wasnt needed. Hopefully, a future patch changes that as I would rather things go to ram than a pagefile.

nice that it fixes your crashes, I checked and my c:SSD page file was already active, I tried increasing it to 4GB and leaving it managed by windows... either way still crashes within 1 min of being in the game

newest nvidia patch fixed most of my issues with games crashing. I haven't tried AC:O yet.

I hate to bring up an old thread but this one seemed to make the most since out of everyone I've read. @UbiTripp'n It does seem like something did change. I've been looking forward to play this game and Origins for sometime now. My rig is running I5 OCed to 5ghz, GPU 2080 FTW Ultra, 16gig of ram at 4300MHz, all SSD and the only thing OCed is my CPU. The system is stock other than that. Normal OS load and everything is up to date.

WIth that said, this rig blows most games out of the water. But when it comes to this game, 5 to 20 mins and game crash to desktop. Like everyone else. I'm not sure what else is going on in the game, (as I'm sure everyone else can say) but Windows doesn't even show any type of event logging for these crashes. Just start up crash.

My CPU isn't even being touch, maybe 60 to 80% load. This game is more GPU for me. Capping it at 80 to 100% at times. But! I can knock that down but running at Low settings and get to 50 to 60% load on the GPU but still crashing after 5 to 20 minutes.

My point being... after all my testing, turning OC off, windows/fullscreen, 1440 to 1080, low to high settings and even trying just one monitor. Everything still crashes this game. Is there something I'm missing in my testing?

I've noticed I tend to have memory issues. Not VRAM, but regular RAM by having chrome open while playing I get crashes and other issues. Even though I have 32gb of RAM unless I close chrome out I will have issues with this game. Its anecdotal but seems to work.

I had several hours into the game, then they patched the game the game.
And it won't run now, it crashes at startup, or shortly afterwards.
I have no idea what the problem is, it ran fine before but nothing now.
I uninstalled it, help is nonexistent, they just keep referring you back troubleshooting. I emailed support, absolutely no reply whatsoever, it's been weeks. This is the only game on uplay I've ever had problems with.
