The game should activate automatically during installation in linked Uplay account.
If you navigate to the installation folder of the game, (Which is by default located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed Odyssey ) You will find the following two files:
uplay_install.manifest
uplay_install.state
Once deleted, you will need to verify the game files within Steam. This can be done by Right clicking the game > Properties. Select the “Local Files” tab at the top, and then “Verify the integrity of the game cache”.
If you are still experiencing issues after this, can you please create a case on the {LINK REMOVED}support website so we can look into this for you?
Thanks

Hey there Fantasy movement,
If you purchased the game through steam but are being asked for a key upon launch, could you please ensure you are launching it from the respective client and not the desktop shortcut?
If you still experience issues after these steps, could you please {LINK REMOVED}Create a Case for me through the Ubisoft website? We will then be able to take a closer look into what might be causing this prompt to appear when launching the game.

Sorry to hear you cannot find a game key.
Have you just purchased it?
There is no key when you buy the game on Steam. Steam pushed a digital licence to your Ubisoft account on the first launch and the licence is activated.
This is why you need to have your Steam account linked to your Ubisoft account.
Are you facing any issues with activation?

After a while of confusion, I just closed Ubisoft Connect and started the game again from Steam.
Everything just worked.
Like Ubi-Vinci says, Steam probably sends the code to U-Connect when you start the game for the first time, but contrary to what Ubisoft believes, it doesn't accept it until a restart. Either a restart of Connect or a relaunch of the game, I dunno. One of the things needs to get a checkmark somewhere and then restarted.
Hope you are enjoying the game.
I'll lock this thread as resolved.
