Advantages of different weapons
Ok, so we have swords, spears, clubs, axes, daggers and they all do their own scale of damage, but really, what difference is there between using a sword with damage of 18 and a spear of damage 18. I mean sure, you get different fight moves, but is there really any plus or minus to the different weapons?

Their movesets make the difference. I like swords, spears and staves.

Rang, speed and moveset. Daggers for example are really fast in an Aoe around you so if you focus on poison that can poison a large group of enemies in close combat quickly; but its also a dangerous weapon because you need to be up in the face of the enemy making you much easier to hit. Spears are much slower but can hit someone pretty far away making it a much safer moveset.

Just play around with weapons you find and you'll find something you'll love.
I find on normal, you go with what your groove is. Im a sword/spear guy. IF you were playing on difficult level you may have to switch things up on tough targets and certain situations. You could be using certain engraves for certain stuff.

I Feel like spears are great at pointy pushoff, staff seems like a spear cept not pointy more smashy, daggers are just too fast...so you wanna use em on fast stuff like jaguars and fasty type peeple. I feel like swords are a balance between close dagger stabby and spear pushy pokey. And I feel like axes are aoe swathy but you open up to counter a bit.

Just my opinion but, I haven't studied any of it, just run around and end lives really.

Good Luck!!

Of course, damage alone doesn't make the difference.
1. Speed.
2. Area of influence.
3. Perks.
4. Damage.
These 4 things together makes weapons different and unique.

A sword and a spear may differ in other three, even though the damage is same. Assess the situation and enemy type to chose a potent option.

For example : There are enemies who are literally "immune"(they won't budge) to melee attacks. For these cases, you'd want to try some other weapon other than daggers and swords. I'd try a spear/heavy/blunt weapon with some fire/poison spray in it.

Isn't melee anything up close and one to one? I thought it was only melee and ranged. Sword, dagger, spear, axe, they are all melee aren't they?

Yes. The bow is ranged, though you could use it within melee range. But, there is also a difference in range for daggers vs spear... have to be very close with daggers and spear not so much. Trade-offs for whatever usage you want ...

Really, on normal it just depends on what style suits your visual and fingertip preferences...ie; what yer good at and enjoy the most.

Wish we could have shields.

Or just shoot them in the face with one or two Devastating Shots, poison arrows are always a good choice since they will stun them and slow them down a bit.

Yeah, sorry about that. Melee and Ranged it is. Bow and arrow what it was supposed to be, not spear/heavy/blunt.:happy_seagull::happy_seagull:
