How do you stop enemies and quests from leveling up as you progress?
Sometimes I just want to return to some early quests and early zones to one shot enemies you know.

Unfortunately, there's no option to disable level scaling completely in this game.

Strangely, the arena stays at 50 even when you're well beyond it. If you are looking forward to roflstomping, between 55-60 is plenty to make the arena a joke.

You can change how tightly the game is level scaling with you in the settings but the scaling is meant to keep the challenge fairly consistent throughout the game. It doesn't make a lot of sense that you would suddenly become a human with 1,000 times the health and strength of a human in the starting area just because you fought some monsters. Your strength comes from the abilities you learn, the items you acquire, and the skill of the player behind the screen.

This is not an MMO.

Only problem is that it doesn't work. By level 60, with all the abilities, engravings, 70-80% crit chance, good gear and ton of adrenaline you become OP anyway. Somewhere within levels 60-70 I one-shot kill everyone except the super - bosses.

Scaling is a fine idea, but it's only half-baked.

lowering difficulty lowers the scaling

ubisoft just fkn suucks at creating decent progress.

Origin worked best. You had a simple skill tree that did not boos any main stats. Your Dmg simply came from the lv of your items with a tiny boost from your upgraded melee dmg.
It was a simple system with not much diversity but it worked at least.

Odyssey was scewed cause of insane sponginess. Playing the game on hardest dif makes everything a sponge even with maxed out melee dmg. Maybe it changes on lv 50-60 i dunno. Because you literaly need to play forwever to get there and i was just bored by the hp sponges. Not like the game was challanging. Biggest fight i had to do in odyssey was to keep my anger about the sponginess in place. Lowering the difficulty helps to reduce sponge but since the game was not very challenging on hard it becomes an absolut bore on easy or normal.

Valhalla once again is a joke. You got many fine tuning options to reduce sponginess and make the game challenging in the gameplay options. But oh boy did they screwed up the progress again. You got a massiv skill tree with a lot of stats to increase as well as weapon upgrades and runes. It looks so great on paper. Until you realise they are all worthless. Pumping everything into melee dmg as well as upgrading weapons and placing runes literaly makes a difference of 4-5 dmg. I am not even joking it is absolutly mindnumbingly dumb.

Yeah, the Valhalla skill tree is possibly the worst I've ever seen for any game. The only things worth taking are the Odyssey like skills and adrenaline increases and they take forever to find.

Yeah when i looked at the tree i was like wtf is this, trying to find the good skills was confusing. 99% just filler with buff

That was exactly what I wanted. Being an rpg fan, investing hours into my character until the game becomes easy is my thing. I did that in all my previous ac games.

The way I like is to play on nightmare difficulty and then the game rewards you and your character becomes OP and kicks enemies ass. Just my personal opinion tho.

Level scaling is one of the lamest ways for devs to keep the game challenging.

Instead of making everything a sponge they could tweak the AI a bot.

Look at the game Sifu. They introduced a new difficulty option and did they change the enemie HP. Nope. They actualy changed enemie behavior to make the game challanging without turning it into a sloth.

Ubisoft is just bad at creating complex combat systems or challanging combat systems. Funny enought hey where on a good way 10 years ago. They should had kept the free flow combat systems and just tweak it more and more. Away from the easy parry insta kills to a more challenging system. I just played a bit Brotherhood today after i was powering throu Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla the last 3 weeks. And omg does it feel good to just mosh away some dudes with nice finishers. How fkn epic could the free flow system be today if they finetuned it for 10 years. Instead we got this lame RPG combat Where you need to hit an enemie 100 times...
