Black bars on top and bottom
i bought the game thru ubisoft and when i try to play it in fullscreen (3840*2160) i have big black bars on the top and bottom of my screen, and i can't get them to go even when i change the resolution or aspect ratio. i also changed the resolution in nvidia experience and control panel but it doesnt seem to help. i also tried searching for a solution but cant find any that works

They are there because you are using a higher resolution than the game was created for.

Fortunately the above reply is not true.
It's working fine for me so there must be some conflict between the game and how Windows precieves as native resolution.

What happens when you force the game into windowed mode (ALT + Enter), do you still have the bars there?

Also is the aspect ratio set correctly in the game options?

It appears that few people have encountered this issue regardless what resolution they choose, whether it's 1080p, 1440p or 4K.

You did say you tried searching for a solution, if you haven't come across this one then hopefully this would help, someone on Reddit said it solved for them by unplugging and plug back the primary monitor, I'll quote their post below;

This worked for me: unplug and plug the monitor again. If you have two displays, change the main one and change it back on Windows.

Mine was in correct fullscreen for days and suddenly wasn't anymore. I have two monitors and changing the game to the other one made it run on correct fullscreen again. So I supposed something went wrong on how Windows drivers were reporting the monitor native resolution. So doing what I say above might have reset it.

The GPU is a GTX 1080, monitor is LG 23MP55 and it is plugged in the GPU using a VGA cable with an adapter to the Display Port on the GPU.

when i make the windowed mode smaller than my actual screen the black bars are gone but then i have the white one from the window on the top side and white lines on the side, and when i make the windowed mode the same size as my screen it snaps back to to the big black bar on top and bottom.
and for the solution you mentioned, i only have one monitor so i cant try this, and i dont see why my drivers only report the wrong resolution for this game because al my other games run perfectly fine
