Denuvo will be there unless they get new management who values profit over sniffing glue.
The issue is these are active dealbreakers for hundreds of thousands or millions of gamers and they're preventing sales by keeping them on. I know I'm not alone here when I can honestly say that no game in my entire Steam Library currently has Denuvo or any alt-launcher or account requirements.
There's no point having these games on steam if they come with catches like this. Makes buying in good faith impossible.
And I'd still like a developer response. This is 6 years in the making.
I assume they have some data that says getting people invested in their ecosystem is more profitable in the long run despite lost sales due to acc req.
As for Denuvo, that's objectively and irrefutably a complete waste of money and shows how out of touch the higher-ups at Ubisoft really are.
Regarding this denuvo crap, I'd suggest playing Ubisoft games on an older computer if you have one. I'm still keeping my old Win7 rig around and have my Anno 1800, AC Origins and Odyssey installed there so I can complete all the achievements I'm still missing in those games.
Denuvo is in fact one of the main reasons why I'm no longer buying any new Assassin's Creed titles and any other Ubi games. I got AC Valhalla couple weeks ago when it was on sale, but I won't be installing it on my new Win11 rig. No way I'm gonna let that malware denuvo molest my top notch hardware.
Sadly i don't. I just have one very high-end laptop.

I just have a hardline stance against buying games with any kind of always online, alt-launcher, account linking, or DRM on em'. I've had this stance for a lot of years and it's not going to ever break.
I already own this game on my PS5 Pro, but I'd prefer to be playing it on PC. I just can't while these things remain on the game, and I've had it on the Wishlist for over 6 years.
I don't understand why either - we're way past any justification for it, most sales will have stopped, launch window considerations definitely don't matter anymore and haven't for 5 & 2/3rds of a year. so it makes sense to me to remove all these things so people can actually buy the game who've been holding out for years and years like me.
FFS Windows 11 is a bigger danger than Denuvo ever was. Everything you do is going to be sent back to Microsoft via Recall and you are worried about Denuvo that doesn't invade your privacy at all?
Seriously, get a freaking clue dude .......
The only time this is true is if you're one of the uneducated masses.
1. I dualboot into Linux and primarily use Linux Mint where applicable. In point of fact, I use it about 80% of the time.
2. Windows 11 Pro can be fixed. On a fresh install, use SHIFT + F10 and type OOBE\NROBYPASS to make a local account instead of an online one. From there, disallow all sharing at introduction. After you get into the PC proper, lookup Raphires W11 Debloater Script, run it, manually, and specifically uninstall everything oriented from Microsoft including Copilot, Edge (this can be forcibly uninstalled), Cortana, the entire Microsoft Store, Onedrive, etc etc....make sure to use it to disable all telemetry data back toward Microsoft, get back your old style context menus and taskbar. From there, simply stop all future updates (except those you choose to manually install) within both the Group Policy Editor & the Registry. After that all you need to do is go into privacy settings and disable absolutely everything the entire way down. Use Firefox as your sole browser, and download Mullvad VPN, enable multi-hop, download Steam, and boom - you've fixed Windows 11.
3. Microsoft having a crap OS is not an excuse to allow Denuvo on your PC. The day anything relating to any alternative storefront touches my PC, or anything regarding any kind of Denuvo-esque DRM, or literally any game that's not an MMO with an always-online requirement, is the day I stop being a PC gamer and break my hardware with a sledgehammer.
The fact Ubisoft insists on this game having Denuvo 6+ years after launch is unironically a gross, disgusting mess and a turnoff from purchase so strong I can't bring myself to do it. I've owned the game for years on console, I'd love to be able to support it on PC too, but I've been waiting for the removal of Denuvo, Ubisoft Connect, and the account requirement for 6+ years now. This game has been on my Steam wishlist since 2018. I made a similar thread this year on this game back in May, to much the same lacking effect.
All I really want is a developer response saying "yes, we intend to remove Denuvo at X time and date" or, "no, there are no plans to ever remove Denuvo and if it's that big a dealbreaker, just move on." I'll probably continue to check in every 6-8 months until I get this response.
Same reason i stopped buying them. They seem to be stuck on the denuvo path now.
I left consoles behind due to the restrictive nature of them and and have enjoyed the open pc gaming scene and modding for many years.
It's seems to be lost on the suits running the show over there.
+ "the message" nonsense has gone way too far.
Anyway ,we're awash with media these days so it's easy to forget about them.
What do you mean by "melting machine?"
My sentiment exactly a reason I've come back to this thread today. If you want my purchase, lift Denuvo, alt launcher, and account linking requirements so I can just boot and play on Steam, or direct from the .exe itself. Then I'll purchase. Not before.
Still waiting on that developer response.
stop being a loser and just buy it
