Problem is, this being a "fake" location, there are not YouTube videos talking about it, orr not that I could find. Actually, it seems that there is barely any conversation about the fake location anywhere on the internet.
I haven't had any problem with any other location though, I usually just take a picture of the given map, find it on the world map and that's it.
Don't know how to, though /:
I resorted to taking a system screenshot and go back and forth between the game and the separate screenshot. Hell, you could even go out of your way and print a physical copy of the treasure map so you can directly compare the two.
These types of things are not meant to be easy, but damn they can be annoying. Which is why most of the treasures are located close to places where other missions will send you so that you're more likely to find some of them unintentionally vs. doing them in isolation.
Personally, I feel like I've been broken on the wheel of developer abuse. I no longer enjoy challenges such as mazes or puzzling maps, and can barely stand it when I'm expected to remember a clue.
I realize this may seem like sarcasm, but it's not. I want gorgeous escapist visuals like ACO, with casual game play that doesn't constantly require me running to youtube for answers.
I just took a photo with my phone xD But yeah, is poorly thought out.
in the 3 first missions you recieve 2 extra fake maps:
in the first mission, one of the maps points to a place in lakonia, a underwater treasure in the dioskouroi peninsula, 'pavlopetri'. the other points to "Aigisthos palace", in Argolis, between the promontory of skylla and the foundry of hephaistos, in the middle of the sea.
in the second mission, one of the maps point to the island of Triton between Samos and Chios. This is that island with the huge Posseidon Statue. The other map, the hardest of the 6 to figure out, is in Paros, in the temple of Athena in Paros Harbor.
in the third mission, one of the maps, the most chaotic one, points to korinthia, south of Acrokorinth , in Kephisos Sanctuary (near the giant medusa head). The other points to Kerkopes bandit Camp in Malis. if you are going there, make sure you get the ostrako in Lamia, because the solution is very close to this camp.
2 things to note: if you already visited one of the fake locations and looted the chest, as soon as you recieve the map it desapears from your inventory and you recieve experience for completing a quest. All fake maps reward you with an epic item, the same amount of dracma you loot from a national chest and a decent amount of experience, so they are not entirely pointless after all.
THANK YOU FOR THIS. I found Pavlopetri and the Salamis lighthouse/tomb from youtube videos but could not for my life find anything about where the last damn map is actually pointing to. You just saved my sanity.
I did every location and ? I found in the game long before I got to that point (I did it pretty much as soon as I got a ship) and by the time I got to those quests (and a lot others), I had already been there, so as soon as I got the quest, it immediately gave me the voice lines for discovering the fake ones and I only had the real one left.
To OP: So, from what happened with me, it means that all the fake maps lead to a ? location, you can use that to help find it.
