Unpopular opinion: AC Odyssey is better than The Witcher 3
I have to say it now by finish both games, TW3 seems kinda overhyped. Don't want to make a long and huge post but I'll just say:

The Witcher 3 of everything only has it's story much, much better than the AC Odyssey.

Except from that, I give everything to AC Odyssey that is better. I don't know, often in TW3 the story was what it kept me going and sometimes it felt it was slowly burning me out, while with the Odyssey most of the times I kept swearing at the writers why didn't they more quality quests because the game has them, but not enough. (Point where TW3 is better) But the exception is where TW3 was burning me out, AC Odyssey was, can't believe it but true, keeping me entertained with it's gameplay, combat, strategic and the endless number of mercenaries. And yes quests do become repetitive but that's where the gameplay has always saved the day because I could always do them in a different way (+ to the infinite skill reset).

Don't take this wrong, Geralt is one of a MF legends, really love him but when you play the game because the characters and cause of its story mainly, sometimes it doesn't just feel right. The combat really is dragging down the game, repetitive even tho the monsters are perfect.

While AC Odyssey, because of its fun gameplay I even learned to love Alexios just because playing and feeling good could keep me immersed

Math formula:

TW3 = (AC Odyssey story * 2.5) + (AC Odyssey gameplay / 6) + 1 (point goes to the main game Gwent)

or you can do it:

AC Odyssey = (TW3 story / 2.5) + (TW3 gameplay * 6)

The Witcher 3 is more then 3 years older.

You seem to ignore that in your thoughts.

Personally I found Odyssey combat to be so boring and repetitive that I started avoiding it at all cost after the first 20 hours. At least the enemies are so ineffective that you can just ignore them most of the time unless there's a quest forcing you to kill them. But if you like it, good for you, I guess.

interesting idea, but for me tw3 is A LOT better and more consistant. The story content and quests are way way more interesting and focussed than aco

Two different games both made approx the same time, 3 years apart (close enough for what you are talking about IMO).

TW3 might not be as repetitive but if you played ACO to the end plus the DLC you are happy you had so many opportunities to gather money (drachmae) and resources as it was all needed to make my character what he is, and the 2nd playthrough she. On that not ACO has better replayability IMO.

Plus, since ACO does not force you to do so many side quests so why not fight in the arena? or do conquest battles, or go out on the Aegean and sink Pirate ships after boarding them and fighting their crew (or Spartan/Athenian if you don't mind bounties), maybe go out hunting for deer and wolves etc.

Speaking of bounties, heck why not get a bounty on your head and let Mercenaries hunt you down do you can kill them? All of the above allow you to gather massive resources.

That being said I enjoyed both games and I put both in my top 10 all time. But many hardcore AC fans do not like the RPG aspect of ACO and although I get that I happen to love RPG's.

I played both The Witcher (except TW1) and AC series (almost all of them). Yep, you're right. AC lacks quality story line. But what can we do? AC is trying, at least, to make the story inline with the history. But to be honest, when I played AC Origins (which I played right after I finished TW3), I was bored at first because the story is really far distant compare to TW3, but comparing the other aspects of the game, I deeply appreciated the effort of Ubisoft on developing a huge update in AC franchise.

What are these aspects of the game I loved since AC Origins?
  1. The game map itself. It is truly amazing, with their attention to details on recreating the ancient cities of ancient civilization. As a person who truly loves history (which is the reason why I played almost all of the AC games), I truly wanted to give Ubisoft a credit on this one.
  2. The combat style. I would say TW and AC are tied with this aspect but there are more than combat-style to choose from in AC. That's a plus for me. However, what I miss in Witcher that I wish AC has is the full-gear set which depends on which type you are. Hopefully this will be included on the succeeding AC franchise.
  3. Discovery tour. Dmn, I really loved this one. Hopefully, this will continue for the rest of the AC franchise.
  4. Photo mode. Well, I understand TW was out of stream with this game feature but Ubisoft nailed this one with the help of the game map. Kudos!

Yes, I would still say TW (most esp. TW3) still is the best RPG but it really depends on your preference. I do like the fantasy type of stories but at the end of the day, I still prefer real.

Well that's my humble opinion.

Cheers players and enjoy all of the games!

Yes guys, I did take in the consideration the age gap of these games and that's why I didn't compare the graphics even tho TW3 has really good visuals. The point of what I wrote is that in the end I feel that I'm mostly play and re-play TW3 more cause of its story rather for its gameplay even tho I like the monsters and that I enjoy a bit more AC Odyssey for its gameplay and also for its story. (To be clear 2.5 or even 3 times TW3 has a better story but still AC Odyssey has a messy decent one as well. By uplifting one story (TW3) doesn't mean I'm degrading or calling bad the other one (ACO))

All in all like the opinions.

Odyssey has the better gameplay, Witcher 3 has the better story and missions.

Many people said this years ago. TW3 combat is repetitive and bland.

Yes, Odyssey may be superior in everything but the things I play an RPG for. Story, Character interaction, writing, atmosphere.

Gameplay, especially combat, is secondary.
Fallout 1/2/NV, Baldur's Gate 1/2, Arcanum, Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines, Witcher (all 3), Alpha Protocol, Planescape: Torment, KotoR 1/2, Morrowind, all better RPGs than Odyssey.

Fun combat/exploration game, though.

Witcher 3 narratively is leaps and bounds better than Assasins Creed Odyssey. AC: O has better combat easily though.

Dream RPG would be to combine the two games.

Odyssey copied some things from TW3. Personally I found the Witcher world far more memorable and better aesthetics. The gameplay is better in Odyssey but it’s far too repetitive. I also think Odyssey relies too much on raiding an encampment loop. You pretty much do the same thing at every fortress or camp.

Witcher 3 does? Please elaborate, what raid loop is in W3?

Yeah, I like Odyssey more but I would recommend Witcher 3 over it to most people because of this reason. Witcher 3 is so much better than any other RPG when it comes to the story, characters, writing, voice acting and side quests.

Man, I know online learning for kids is going on, but you could at least try and keep them off your steam account.
