All versions require Ubisoft Connect, Denuvo Anti-Tamper, and VMProtect DRM.

When did Ubisoft threaten an account?
Informing a person with an inactive account with no games. That it will be soon removed due to no activity. Is not a threat. There is a huge difference there.
I didnt sign on to my Ubisoft account for years. Between Black Flag in Jan. of 2015 and than I played Rogue 3+ years later in Sept. 2018. Nothing in between from Ubisoft. But I already had games in my library. Not once did I receive any email about inactivity.
Blame the European Data Protection Board for this not Ubisoft
That's why Larian Studios and CD Projekt are so successful and so loved by their fans, and Ubisoft will always have to hear it non-stop. Some companies just "get it" and some don't. If you want to put Denuvo on in the beginning, that's fine, but there is no excuse to be keeping it on for years and years later.
The idea of DRM is to prevent pirates from distributing your software. The whole idea behind it is to use it initially, and then get rid of it after so long since it's no longer relevant. 99% of companies that use a DRM will do this. In addition, you will never be able to put it on GOG due to their restrictions on DRM, so that's a boatload of money you will NOT be making right there.
From a business standpoint, Ubisoft's actions are counterproductive for long term fan appreciation and income.
