Sell or Dismantle

Question: So I see a lot of varying opinions, but many of the comments I have read came before the level cap increase. I am level 56, with about 250k Drachmae. I started upgrading some of my engravings where many of them are 100k to upgrade per level. Going forward should I be selling all my found gear or dismantling? Some say do 50/50, others say sell and buy resources with the gold you earn. What kind of advice do you have?

Realistically, do what you need, as you need. You can always buy resources at smiths so if you need something and find yourself low, visiting a couple shops should fix that. I do it as I need it but default into breaking things down because making money is pretty easy once you start selling everything you pick up. I could make 200k in a couple hours, I suspect.

Sell everything for gold. Buy resources.

I'd sell all my unused Legendary gear, too, if they'd let me.

When they increased level cap I had the boat maxed out in upgrades, so I now have one upgrade in each category to go. I calculate I need around 15000 Obsidian Glass and 2 million Drachmae. I expect to have the Drachmae several times over before I have the 15000 Obsidian Glass.

That said, I dismantle blue and purple, sell common because Common doesn't give Obsidian Glass when you break it down. I also buy Obsidian glass any time I see it. I still expect to have the Drachmae first.

I sold the purple stuff, and dismantled the blue/common stuff. I reached a point where money was no object, but I occasionally ran out of wood and leather.

The legendary sets have combined perks that pretty much render the other gear useless.

Ok, so sets are what most people use in end game? Same go for weapons too?

dismantle, you get crafting materials
you get enough drachmae from quests and stealing treasures

I used to dismantle a bit more, but, now, at level 87, I usually just sell everything that has a coloured background, and only dismantle the few 'common' stuff I get, and maybe the occasional cheap 'blue' item (like footwear or gloves).
I just hop from blacksmith to blacksmith and buy all their materials.

This is an ongoing debate. Some argue Epic purple with 4 total engravings are better than legendary with 3 total engravings, a set bonus and higher caps. I save epic that have all 3 damage types as engravings but I don't know if I can get an entire set of Assassin, Hunter, Warrior engraved epic gear. I don't know if the engravings are locked or random and there are just a lot of them. Legendary are what I use mostly, yes.

It depends on your build. There will be a legendary armor set that's close to what you need but it may not be totally optimal. So to make the game interesting you can hunt for "perfect" epic pieces with the exact optimal combination of engravings for your build. But this is not a difficult game so you don't have to. Just if you like loot.

I just dismantle everything. Gold is easy to get. Wood I run out of because I don't do a lot of piracy.

I know I should use engravings but I don't. I keep saying 'Next time' but I keep forgetting and I seem to do fine anyway.

Sell the blue and gray ones. Remove the purple ones.

it seems they added another tier to shipping so it costs quite a bit of resources as well again

I wish you could trade / sell resources that you have. I have 400k in wood, but I could use alot more iron.
