How do I play this game in OFFLINE mode?

Everything I've tried, Uplay won't let me play when I'm offline. Due to the hurricane causing widespread internet service outages in my area. I never know when I will have internet access.

What are the necessary steps to play offline? Every Google search has not helped.

I really want to play this game... :-(

UPlay will either tell you it can;t establish a connection and tell you to press to go into Offline mode, or you can select Offline Mode in UPlay. I actually used Offline mode when the UPlay servers were down last week.

IN addiiton, you have to ALSO have STEAM in offline mode (if you don't have an internet connection). This is one of the issues with buying games on STEAM. I usually get my UPlay games directly from Ubisoft.

Fun Fact: Ubisoft UPlay had a functional Offline Mode before STEAM (I say functional as the Offline Mode STEAM had required you to be online to go into Offline Mode. Once Origin and UPlay had TRUE offline modes, STEAM followed suit)

I can start this game with UPLAY in offline mode no problem.
Actually did that since release since it seems it makes the game more stable, even if i miss out on daily/weeky quests.
Only time UPLAY refuses to start the game is when there was an update on Steam for the game, then UPLAY needs to be online once when you start the game to verify the files.

Ok, this is just messed up...

You have to be in Online mode to switch to Offline mode. That is just plain dumb. If I start Uplay without an internet connection, it won't let me switch to Offline mode. But, if I am connected online, I can go to Offline mode just fine, although it gives me a warning about not being able to do some things...

So, the time that I NEED to go into Offline mode because my internet connection isn't available, I can't do that.

After the update I had some problems getting it to play offline. I started up the Uplay app from the Start menu and then the game both while online. Then I went to the Uplay network settings while the game was running and checked the box to always run Uplay offline. After that it worked.

Um, I realize that. But it "took" my week of vacation from me, cost me about a $1000 in clean-up, repair, and replaced food that I lost, plus, I donated about a 1000 dollars worth of time and supplies to the relief effort that I could have spent working. So yeah it could have been way worse; I consider myself very fortunate.

Just trying to figure out how to play this game offline if I want to. Thanks for all the suggestions, something will probably work.. I have other things I can do and play in the meantime.

If you want to follow exactly what I did, I started the game by hitting "Play" within the Uplay app while online, I don't know if that is relevant.

My internet went down for few hours sunday, i put steam into offline mode but it wouldn't open the game, i had to open the uplay app and wait for it to tell me there was no connection and give me the option to start offline

Ok, all the suggestions together have worked for me now, Thank You!

I tested it by disconnecting my internet and launching Uplay, then when it says something about "the service being unavailable, that I can either retry later or go offline.." This is where the confusion was, because there was no option to "Go offline"; this is the login screen where it's asking for username and password. There is a Settings button on that login screen, and if you go into it, you can then select "Always start Uplay in Offline Mode". And then you can pick the Restart Uplay option, and it will then launch in Offline Mode, finally. Then Steam will let me go into offline mode and I can play.

Thanks for helping me figure this out. Nice to play a game I paid for, when I get a chance to finally play.

top left of uplay is 3 blue lines
click that and some options show up
'go offline' is right there

Uplay would never launch to even get to that menu when my internet wasn't connected, so that wouldn't work for me. It's there, yes, once you get into Uplay, but at the time I couldn't get that far.

When you install any game, run it for the first time. Then you can have your offline mode.

You cant load old saves in Offline mode,well as far as i remember!!
Its sad.. my my old gaming days without DRMs

Yes you can play offline and load your local saves.
If you offline you can not load your save from cloud.
