Is male lead voice really bad? How much worse than female?

played alexios 30 hrs b4 restarting over as Kassandra. Now 41 hrs with Kassandra and I do prefer her voice more. Alexios doesn't flow as well in a lot of cutscenes.

The problem is not the voice itself but the actor is basically unable to emote. At all.
The Kassandra voice actress can be snarky, sarcastic, loving, funny, stern, angry, sad and so on.
The only tone of voice the Alexios actor is capable off is " grr im angry tough warrior grrrr"
Its no wonder Ubisoft considers Kassandra the canon character, Alexios is just boring.

The voice acting for Alexios isn't bad for the role of a easy-going merc, but only if you haven't played Just Cause 2 or Just Cause 3. If you have, then all you will hear is the voice of Rico, and all immersion will be lost.

Im a minority. I prefer Alexios. His line delivery is more entertaining, and I actually think he emotes better than Kassandra.

After 40+ hours I like the female better personally.

I think that it is. I can't stand the male character at all due to bad acting. He totaly comes across as a pompus zap branagan meets conan jock type.

I did play Mass Effect Andromeda (with final patch) as a female just because her face stuck to me after all the commericals

Andromeda was better BEFORE the first patch. They so intentionaly ruined the franchize so they could go make more money from disney's star wars.

Is his acting worse than that of the Origins male hero?

Yes. The male acting in Odyssey is WAY worse than Origins. I liked the acting in Origins. The acting over all in odyssey isn't as good. Kassandra does the best. Performance wize.

I think his voice is fine, though when he makes a noise when swinging a sword it sounds a bit odd and does not match his voice when he is speaking in dialogue.

He was too "growl into the mic to emotions" for my liking. She has a greater range of emotion that is easier to relate to.

Early game Phoebe gets kidnapped and her reaction made me lean back in my chair because it was a whole new level of "I am going to murder someone" compared to how irritated she was with Marcos for not paying her.

His lines for both scenes sounded the same level of irritated and growly, so kidnapping someone you care about had the same weight as where is my money.

I love Alexios. I am female and really thought I would want to play Kass. I played both a bit and found Alexios so much more human. I love the voice acting and I really have connected with him. Kass is a little bit too bland for me. She makes a great antagonist. I understand why others prefer her. For me though, I just love Alexios .

I love Alexios' voice. But it's a matter of opinion, plus I've got really sensitive ears, female voices hurt me sometimes.
Or high pitch male voices, damn you Joe Pasquale....
That said, if Joe Pasquale voiced the main character, I'd definitely be interested in seeing how it goes, albeit on a low volume.

Anyway! I'm swapping to Kassandra because every time I swim I see Alexios groin shuffling about, and it's starting to bother me, wear some bloody trousers you damn fool!
