Do conquest battles play out when we're not there?

Not too far in the game, lvl 14 in Phokis, and just saw that Megaris is vulnerable to Athens now. Should I go back for the loots now or will it wait?

I'm not sure what happens if you are the one to cause the conquest battles to appear (ie you have directly caused the battles to spawn due to the nation strength system).

However the random ones that pop up around Greece on their own? They appear to resolve themselves after some time. I've never ignored a conquest battle that I have setup myself though so no answer on that one, sorry.

Kept playing in Phokis and I see now that the Spartans are no longer vulnerable in Megaris. It seems a faction's control does change without player input.

It's worth trying to do every conquest battle for the gear / money since if you take too long it'll autoresolve itself and you'll have to either wait for it to slowly become weak or weaken the region yourself again.

Yeah. I wonder if it will auto resolve eventually even if your present in the territory?

the war is dynamic with or without you, if there is a conquest battle it gets autosolved after some time if you do not participate, regions change owners or get defended with or without you too. :)

The conquest battle may even be fought without you when you are in that very same zone walking around. So don't waste too much time when it opens up :)
