how the heck do you dive underwater

Im on a quest l and cant figure out how to dive without jumping off a cliff. Underwater controls aren't avalible to change in settings for some reason. Has anyone figured this out. Please help thanks

I've tried everything and I can't get him to go under water. I'm supposed to get a bunch of medicine jars but the crouch key does nothing in a lake.

Are you holding it down? You have to keep C depressed to dive.

Additionally, it won't work too close to shore, even in a lake you can otherwise swim in. Go out to the middle and try.

For PC versions: I don't know about previous patches, but as of this update, the "Dive" ability is mapped to the "Jump Down" key, wherever you have that mapped, Shift+E by default. You do not have to hold the key down, once underwater you can swim around freely by moving the mouse to point your character in the desired direction.
