Now I finish enemies off completely and dont run away, or stealth everything. No more bounties.
They seem to put bounties on you if they live to tell the tale, or if civilians witness crimes.
Yes they're annoying.... however, bounty hunter will climb stuff to follow you.
Whenever I got a bounty on me I need dealt with, I find a nice tall location. Climb up it. Trigger the Bounty Hunter nearby. Let him climb the whatever, and right when he gets to the top, I scream "THIS IS SPARTA!" and Spartan Kick him off the cliff to his instant death.
The problem with that strategy is that you're not actually in sparta so the mercenary's last thought before he hits the ground is; "This guys an idiot!"
You've got to remember that without mass media only spartans would get the reference and even they'd think it was weird that you're using an expression from their great grandparents time.
I got an alert that one was too powerful for me, and by the time I ran into him, I was only 1 lvl below him. Took him down fairly easily early in the game. Unlike in AC Origins where they consistently wiped me out until I learned how to take them down.
I think it's a fun aspect of the game, and it certainly spices things up a bit. I could see where 3 or more attacking me at once would be a nightmare though. Still, might be fun to try... :-)
I never noticed a purse icon for the one who hired the bounty hunter though. Maybe I just missed it.
Shoot I had two mercs literally spitting distance from the fort I was clearing and on their way to engage me and I paid off the bounty and their icons turned white and they left.
Hmm, will have to look into that. Could be some interesting encounters. Game just gets more awesome all the time. :-)
Doesn't really matter what people are saying about having a bounty hunter on you...its ancient greece. we don't have smart phones. We don't have GPS. I don't have to kill anyone. I just fast travelled and now I am sitting at my lookout using the bird to watch him and as soon as I loaded in he started sprinting across the map towards my new location. He always seems to know where I am regardless of whether or not I have killed someone. It is obnoxious and buggy.
EDIT: after five minutes of watching him run toward me I fast travelled back. now he is right at the bottom of the fast travel point standing there looking up at me. This is kind of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb.
