Where do i find caves and stuff?

Where do i find those stone tablet things that you use to level up your ship? Are they in caves or tombs? Whats the best way to find these?

But can you find them with the birds help or do they only come up as question marks?

Your bird will mark them if you're close enough

I'm finding them in specific locations I've discovered. If you hold down the Alt key while in a location it will show the status of all the things to do at that site. If one of them is to find an ancient tablet, wander areount looking at things until you see a dark grey tablet with a white dot on it and the prompt to interact displayed.
