The game will direct you to most places with quests or sidequests eventually. Just keep looking for those gold and cyan/teal quest markers on the map. Nearly every story quest opens up a handful of sidequests.
You say you're above required levels but don't "understand the forced grinding" though? Why would you grind if you're already above required levels? Again, you admit there's level restrictions on zones but admit to being higher than necessary and thus able to reach places beyond the intended scope at that point.
It's a post full of contradictions. I get that the arbitrary level restriction is obnoxious, pointless even, but it's not much hindrance to exploration for very long.
If it's any consolation, you'll be able to freely move about Greece LONG before the end of the game and enjoy that unlimited freedom (Level 45ish) for the second HALF of the game, if not longer considering DLC. Following the normal flow of the game through all DLC you'll end up like level 70+ purely on actual scripted quests.
if all the enemies always match your level, then there is no point of leveling system at all.
Valhalla is like Origins in that certain areas are off-limits until you're powerful enough to tackle them. You won't get one shot as in Origins or Odyssey, but the game does encourage you to 'know your limits'. All 3 AC rpg's have this in common - this isn't Skyrim. I have no issue with this at all. The last area in England that I visited had a recommended level of 340 but at 300 I had few issues. I'm also very well geared by this point.
In Valhalla, you get perk points pretty regularly. I actually enjoy the skill system - I like a bit of mystery and having to think carefully about where to put my points. YMMV. In the end it matters little. Just upgrade your gear and weapons and you'll be fine.
If you do the Atlantis dlc the game throws skill points at you at a ridiculous rate towards the end. I guess they wanted you to go out with a bang. Valhalla never gets that ridiculous.
Off topic: I guess by now you finished the underworld? How was it?
I got all the enemies to match my level in settings, that´s what I wanted, just didn´t know it existed. The difficulty is still the same, you can play on easy difficulty and have all the enemies be at your level in the zones you are supposed to be in.
Now I am happy.
The most important thing. Great!
