PC or PS4 Pro?
So after seeing the recommended system specs and my experience with AC Origins, I'm wondering what you guys think about what platform to get this on?

My specs are:
i5-7500
GTX 1080
16GB RAM
240Hz 1080p monitor (worth mentioning)

I try to get games to play above 60FPS but my CPU is definitely bottlenecking newer games. I feel like I'm going to frusteratingly spend a lot of time messing with the graphics settings to get something close to 60FPS. I know the AC engine is notorious for having poor CPU performance/optimization and I'm wondering if its even worth trying Odyssey on PC this time.

However, I just recently got a PS4 Pro and a nice 4K TV and after playing a lot of Spider-Man on it, I'm debating on just getting Odyssey on PS4 and settling for the locked but (most likely) consistent 30FPS. There is definitely a benefit to just buying the disc and putting it in the PS4 and it just works. No tweaking required.

I dont know... I'm just curious as to what people think I should do. I'm kind of split but I'm starting to lean more towards the PS4 for this one. AC games are (usually) solid there. Any thoughts?

I don't know that it was ever definitively proven to be the cause, but Origins' did have a dual layer DRM scheme on the PC, and it also tended to peg most CPUs at or near 100% for extended periods of play. A lot of gamers with less than high end CPUs complained about low frame rate or stutter in dense areas of the game, where their CPUs were maxed out.
I don't know if Odyssey is going to use the same DRM scheme, or if Ubisoft has found a way to minimize it's impact (assuming that was the issue before), but you might try renting it on the Pro, if that's an option, and seeing if it doesn't run smooth and look nice there, while PC gamers have a day or two to report back on performance here.

It's pretty much the same as Origins but it will be more optimized.
I'd say if you're willing to play Origins on PC, there should be no problem playing Odyssey on PC too.

You have a Gync Monitor but its HD. well you can still upscale the resolution through nvidia panel to 4k but it wont look as good as it does on the 4k TV. But i doubt it 1080 will able to run the game on 60FPS. So it all comes down to your preference then, if you have no issue of playing AC Odyssey at 30FPS on 4k PS4 Pro than go ahead with that or if you prefer playing it on 60FPS then you have to compromised the 4k Resolution for that. i think you still be able to run it on 2k easily on your PC with no issue higher than 60FPS. Since i have no PS4 or Pro. i've ordered mine on PC and i am more then happy to play it on HD with 60FPS with my GTX 980ti OC. with some graphics tweakts.

if you had a i7 instead you would get near 100 fps on Ultra in Origins (I know cause that's what I have with a 1080)

I have a 240 hz too, if you have BenQ with DYAC then its well worth it too cause even at 90 FPS it feels much smoother like 144hz.. even without I consider 80fps with high refreshrate monitor to be far superior then 60hz or 60fps

Save PS4 Pro for Red Dead Redemption 2 and exclusives like The Last of Us 2 etc...

imo if you save for a 7700k and overclock it in a few years you will see at least 40+% processor power improvment over that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ 7500 locked i5, that and a good 30-40% FPS

Is that confirmed somewhere? On my 17-4790k, 980 gtx, 16gb ram pc I was able to play Origins on high and get 60fps outside of cities. Once inside it fluctuated too much and I ended up locking it to 40fps, which was fine for me.

So same as Origins but more optimized would be great for me.

has it been confirmed somewhere that Odyssey will be more optimized?

I have an i5-8600K and 16gb ram, with a GTX 1070. Nowhere near the top specs I'm positive, but I haven't had an issue with any AAA, gorgeous game released this year.

Hell, the most issues I've had are running Stellaris and Total War: Warhammer 2 at the same time.

Is there really such a big difference between the 7500 and 8600?

yes, yes it is

in perspective if you have i7k models it takes a good 3 generations before you reach 31%

Dude, you have almost same specs as me, lol. Btw I have xbox one but I bought for PC.

I appreciate everyone's comments! I'll probably get it on Steam and if there are some serious issues then I can always refund it and get it on PS4 no problem.

with an i5 7500 and a 1080, you should technically still be able to run the game at 60fps @1080p. BUT even if you don't you can still cap the game to 30fps and get the true console experience. I think 4K is overrated. I have God of War on PS4 Pro and I simply could not play it at 30fps because the controls, particularly the camera, felt like there was a greater delay when changing between the two settings.
