I played on the hardest difficulty still so I would die in a few hits, but I would also be able to kill people in a few hits. Assasinations are guarenteed kills and same with arrow headshots. Takes a bit of messing around with, but it got me through the game. + you can give yourself the xp and drachme booster for free if you hate having to grind side missions.
And I can kill enemies of my own lvl (at Nightmare) in 1 to 5 hits (5 hits the tougher normal enemies) and instakill almost every normal enemy with stealth attack without any hack/cheat whatsoever, also no grinding for drachmae (that is totally not needed at all for anything other than upgrading the ship . . and the ship itself is basically optional too gameplay, aside form some quests).
Beyond lvl 19 I was 1shotting (or almost) enemies of my own lvl and with stealth attack I was 1shotting most normal enemies too (that while I was already going to areas with enemies +3 beyond my own lvl), so I gone in need for areas where enemies were not that weak to the point I was going to +9 and +12 areas and still killing enemies and mercs there).

All you need, is proper gear and to explore, dont waste your drachmae on upgrading gear (because it is useless, by the time you reach higher lvl you wil also have better gear and weapons that will render useless the previous ones you upgraded), because gear and weapons are for the engravings, not for the flat values (+armor/+health/+damage values, but for the engravings of +All Damage%, +Hunter Damage%, + Warrior Damage%, + Assassin Damage%, + "Heavy Weapon" Damage% -> or any other weapon, ... and so on).

Obviously, if instead of trying to understand the game and use the tools it gives you to your favor, you just want to cheat and have the same effects from lvl 1 with no care whatsoever, as it is a single player game, if you enjoy just use it, but keep in mind, all you mentioned there using cheat engine is well possible without cheats (also i was not following any guide, I was just exploring everything everywhere and collecting gear and weapons, reading the engravings and using what I was finding and thinking was best at the moment, I know for sure I dont have anywhere near the best and most OP gear and weapons in the game, far from that, but still more than enough to turn the game as easy as I described even at Nightmare).
Yeah I think it definetly comes down to what is most fun for you. I just recently 100% the game using the cheats something I would never be able to do without them in my opinion. I was also able to get all purchased content like outfits for free aswell, but decided to not use them becuase didnt love how any looked. When I very first played the game on xbox I got halfway though the game then got stuck becuase I wasnt a high enough level and didnt know that there was side missions other than go here and kill the people ones.

TL:DR
I believe you can do it without hacks by your gaming capacity, but if it is a matter of "patience" too go to places, fight enemies, do quests and explore to find the gears and weapons to be able to when and while you lvl up the normal way, then, well, it is patience.
Still, as it is your game, and a single player game, if you enjoy the game with cheats and dont see yourself playing the game without, so be it (the longer version is more like "encouraging you" as yes it is very possible to overpower the enemies of your own lvl and even of lvls higher than yours).

LONG VERSION:
Like I said . .it is all about the engravings and to keep collecting more weapons and exploring (so you can have at least 1 OP or kind of OP build for hunter, warrior, assassin or even full melee and being OP either in damage, resistance to damage and health or "in part" for both, without looking for any guide) as there is no need to upgrade gear and weapons, unless it is something literally so OP that it is worth because there is nothing better at the game (making it worthless to spend drachmae on anything else).

I think (and it is just my opinion, I am not making a joke or making fun or anything else) from what you said here:
"I just recently 100% the game using the cheats something I would never be able to do without them in my opinion"
I believe is more a matter of you not believing yourself (lack of confidence) and just taking the "other way" to get OP (that is using cheat) or just want to have everything "now" instead of going the normal way for it (what is a matter of patience and, well, is also another reason to use a cheat in a single player game, if you dont want to "spend time" looking for things or just exploring and killing enemies to see what you can get . . or maybe even spending time to lvl up, as I believe there may be a cheat to lvl up from 1 to 99 instantaneously and unlock all possible abilities and the use of all gears and weapons).

I mentioned the possibility of "you not believing yourself" as you said "I would never be able to do without them", I believe "yes you can" because when I was lvl 11~14 I was already finding the game quite easy when fighting against enemies of my own lvl at Nightmare and started roaming around to areas where all enemies were much higher lvl than me (and I gone straight up to Lesbos, lol . . . a lvl 11~14 at Lesbos :crashbcoot::winter2019joyfultearsyul:, then I gone to areas "not so high lvl" while exploring more of the world until where I could kill enemies in some 3 hits (what at the time was enemies +3 lvls abover my own lvl) and then I kept this "3 to a max of 5 hits to kill normal enemies" rule and going to much higher lvl areas (to the point that at lvl 34 to 37 I was going to areas +10 and +12 lvls beyond my own lvl), I "was going" (still going) full melee, +350% damage but 1/4 max HP and no abilities (and mostly because that is how I enjoy the game and how I was playing anyway at the lower lvls, without using abilities, the 1/4 max HP is just an extra that makes the game resembles more like Dark Souls that have a ring that allow for similar increase of damage when you are very low HP).
Also, I am not the only example of that MUCH LESS the best example.

Not only my build I know and believe to be far from the best builds out there (even because I did not loook at any guide, I just found the weapons and gears with the engravings and made the use of it as I saw fit and as I had lvl enough to use) as I know there are builds for Hunter, for Assassin, for Warrior and all builds using abilities too that can be as OP or much more OP than my build (even because not only the use of abilities but also most certainly with much more health and armor/resistances too, as I am not focusing that and as I get 1shot by anything I dont really care about my hp, armor or resistances).

Just run Normal. AI still as dumb as it is on Nightmare. Not worth it.

Can't even get better drop rates on Nightmare.

This game is almost all about the build.
Try to opt for a 'crit build' (100% crit chance) and you're mowing down enemies left and right.

I'm guessing others have said it already but crit assasination attmepts (hold Y, wait for at least one bar of adrenaline to refill beforehand it consumes one) before fighting strong enemies can wipe out half or more health on the strong enemies in one shot, taking a lot of grind time off the strong enemies. Put some Crit mods and assassin damange mods on your equipment to buff it up a little. That one tactic can greatly reduce fight times on tougher enemies.

Also stay close to them if they are the mercs, staying close stops them from healing up. If you see them starting to quickly back off to heal run after them hah.

Are you talking about the legendary animals for the Daughters of Artemis quest line to kill legendary animals?

It is normal that those legendary animals have very high hp, and I have enjoyed the battles against these legendary animals.

• Heitor's Harpe
• Sword of Axon
• Big Horn Bow (with your free 200 Helix)
• Prioritize getting Warrior DMG on armor substats
• 100% All DMG, 25% Health
• 30% Armor Penetration
• Get Epic Gear with Crit Rate/Crit DMG (or on Full Health)
• Max Warrior Passive

And just go to town.

10 levels above your mercenaries (which are mini-bosses) it's a big deal actually. They are made in this way purposely so that the players have a feeling of progression when they are playing the game for the first time or when they are upping the difficulty. SO WHY DO YOU COMPLAIN? It's like a NASCAR driver going to compete in the Formula 1 races and complaining about the extra-difficult turns he has to make as fast as possible. IF A GAME IS TOO DIFFICULT FOR YOU, JUST LOWER ITS DIFFICULTY LEVEL. Are you a child or an adult with a child's mind!? Get serious for Steam's sake!

normal enemies take forever to kill

Go play "Kingdom Come Deliverance". After you've been jumped and murdered by a trio of scruffy leather clad drunks with billyclubs for the 6th time, come back and tell us how hard combat is in "Odyssey"......................

Just play the game. Get gear. Get abilities. Get gud. It's pretty damn easy and incredibly relaxing and stress-free.

Definitely, your gear is way below your level, also your abilities, very likely aren't according to your fighting approach. Remember, to shielded enemies, you have to take their shield out first. So what if you are playing "competitive games" that are probably shooters? Tactical hack&slash RPG is quite different. You have to continuosly upgrade your gear and skills to your fighting style, also make a tactical approach of each objective. Pardon me, but you are an adult with a child mind.
