I have almost everything before the final upgrade at the ship and I still have over 2300 Obsidian (over 15K Soft Leather, almost 17K Iron, almost 7K wood, 36 Ancient Tablets, over 2300 Obsidian and 2300 Precious Gems, always exploring everything, always doing all forts and leader houses, many times selling weapons and always clearing caves (and you can re-do caves over and over, but it is kind of rare to find more than Iron).
Wander around (and just in case, spam to collect, even with horse you may collect a lot but I tend to go on foot to enjoy more the view and collect more stuff, also killing animals and any other enemy that come on the way), enter everywhere and always look everywhere (at caves look at all walls, anything that shines, go for it).
For orichalcum, always go to high "natural" places (such as mountaisn, plateaus, etc), chances are high you find it there or near there, but also isolated islands, near certain "special locations" or at the middle of mountains where access is "hard" (but you can notice a "kind of a path" or a "small flat area" in the middle, chances are good that you find orichalcum there).
Obviously, you can do the quests for it and farm it too, but as on the "search for orichalcum" you may also find lots of other stuff (including other locations you would not find that easily if you did not go to high places), just keep looking around, always and never skip anything.
STILL, if you just want it fast, buy from blacksmiths . . but then you will need drachma anyway (and a lot, reeeeealy a "massive lot" for the final upgrades) so . . . up to you, to spend more time searching for it or to spend more time farming missions and everything else for drachma anyway.
