Will Assassin's Creed Valhalla ever be available on Steam?
Hi, I know this is on Assassin's Creed Odyssey but, i'm just curious if the new Assassin's Creed will ever be on Steam? I know it was said (obviously now) that it won't be on Steam at launch, so (IF) it is gonna be on Steam when?? or will it at all??

What? AC Valhalla not coming to Steam?
So....... Does Ubisoft want to miss sales? I pretty much have to get it on Steam if I want it at all. My whole AC collection is on Steam and there have been so many games now, that I just can't break up the collection because of an Ubisoft sales tantrum. I'm sure I'm not the only one either. Not sure if I'll get an AC game on PC again if this is how it's going to be..... What a HUGE BUMMER.

One of UbiSoft's greatest sucesses was fooling gamers into thinking they're the good guys.

That said, they've always been forcing Uplay even here, so what's the problem with buying it there?
Credit where it's due, at least they didnt leave Epic as the only choice.

I wouldn't put my money on it, but maybe one day it'll come to Steam, once they squeeze all possible income through Uplay, EGS and micro-transactions.

They didn't release The Division 2 on Steam. Result - 90% discount in the first year (back around January).

No Ubisoft game since February 2019 released on Steam.
They now have a exclusive multi year contract with EPIC for the distribution of all their games outside their own UPLAY client.
So the chances of this coming to Steam was zero to begin with and will be zero for many years till their contract expires.

Is there even any expiration date given for the contract? I don´t remember.

Nobody knows. The only thing that is known is that it was not just a " 1 year/6 month" exclusive deal like with many other games that did go EPIC and then later came to Steam.
Because multiple games like "Anno 1800" or "Division 2" are already older then 1 year and no sign of a Steam release in sight.

So its definitely a complete exclusive contract for their whole catalog for the foreseeable future.

Tencent (Chinese company and major share holder of Epic Games) put up a lot of cash for the exclusivity. Epic doesn't make enough money to offer what Ubisoft probably wanted for the exclusivity. Steam has over 90 MILLION active accounts.

Do the math. My guess is that Tencent gave Epic games $250,000,000 to give to Ubisoft for the PC rights.

Tencent also owns 5% of Ubisoft

No steam then the game will imo be missing

Not having a proper Steam forum for the game
that is easy to manevure unlike Ubisofts normal forums
which are absolutly terrible if you want to find an answer to a problem with one of their games.

I really like steam achivements.

and having the option to post screenshots from the game on steam activities
to share with your friends.

So No steam NO THANK YOU.

It really sucks as a Gamer, to be caught in the middle of all this "Platform War" crap. It's like Wanting to eat at Burger King, and being forced to get Mcdonalds. Which then, if you complain about it, people will be like "It's just a burger, it's even from the same cow!". Yeah, but they taste different depending on where you buy it and how it's served. I buy on Steam and I get all the toppings like forums, reviews, achievements, marketplace, photo and video tools, various gamepad support, ect..ect..ect.., to top my "Burger"... If I buy on Epic, I might just get the bun if I'm lucky. I honestly just do not see the advantage for the Gamer. The extra $ the big publishers make from Epic will most likely just go to shareholders and CEO's anyway. Look at the Gearbox/Take 2 situation with Borderlands 3. That $ never really went back to the Dev's, and that is going to be the case with all Ubisoft games from now on too.

You know this game is going be also on Uplay , Ubisoft store ?
You got Ubisoft forums.
On Uplay you have achievements and for some you get U-credits, witch then you can use to get DLCs from Uplay Club or use for 20% discount Coupon for other Ubisoft game.

The writing was on the wall, after what happened with The Division 2, Anno 1800 and that interview where someone from Ubisoft said that Steam 30% was unrealistic nowadays.

Funny thing is. Steam is the second most consumer friendly platform that Ubisoft leaves. The first being GOG.
