I finally solved this by loading a save from an hour before, later saves still have the same problem. Don't know what was happening but everything seemed to look right but now I can select my sword again, just lost an hour of progress.
I appreciate you for providing us with the update and glad to hear that you managed to resolve it.
Hope you enjoy your game-time and should you have any queries in the future, feel free to get in touch at any time!

What happened was that new to the game I didn't realize that I had left one of the weapon slots unfilled.
When I accidentally hit the T key it went to the blank space and no weapon appeared.
I finally figured it out, when it happened again after reloading.
Mike
Hope you have a blast!
