so suppose you have 100 warrior damage after everything and you got now a 150% fire damage bonus. With flame weapons or a weapon on fire your new damage will be 100 x (1+1.5)= 250 damage. Basically with fire weapon or flaming attack skill both do the same thing you add a (1+fire damage%) multiplier to your overall damage.
When you hit with an elemental attack it does an impact damage based on calculations show and also a chance to apply a dot based on your elemental build up.
Going elemental is one of THE BEST ways to maximize your damage by par none.
