Do killing cultists ruining quests?

Sometimes I have cultist unlocked on my map, on the area I have never been before.

If I go straight to kill that cultist, will I lock out any missions which were suppose to be relate to the cultist?

I went out of my way a few times to kill a specific cultist and it has never failed any quest.

Most of the cultists do not have any quests related to them and the ones that have wont be aviable to find untill it is time for the quest.

If they appear on the map then go kill em, I always do. It will not affect any quests...

I could be wrong, but I think I almost ruining some story by just running into leader's house and started a killing spree.

When I was doing Kyra and her rebel quest, I had to run away from Podarkes's house to avoid killing him. I was using eagle to scout area for lieutenant and his name pop up.

What if they are not yet marked on the map? sometimes a random person I killed turn out to be a cultist.

Well I like to clear areas before doing the story missions etc and have killed people and found out they were a cultist and it has never broken any missions. I am only referring to my own gameplay however.

With the world being so big I do a lot of exploring and "clearing" of areas and at times I find and kill a cultist. At the moment, as far as the story goes, I have just left Athens and already I have wiped out more than half of the cult.

The one that are important to the story and must be killed during certain missions are usually protected. As for podarkes, I know what you mean and I found him there too. I don't know what happens if you kill him there as I decided to leave him for later as well....
