What's the point of conquest battles?
So I did my first conquest battle and fought for Sparta and ever since I've been siding with Sparta and when the area is vulnerable or weakened, I kill the leader and then do the conquest battle but it doesn't seem to change anything about the game?

Is it just a way of getting xp / loot?

Yes, it won't affect the story as far as I'm aware.

New to the game also. Don't pay attention to my hours played. Due to work schedule, I fall asleep on occasion when playing.

From what i can see so far, it's an extra mechanic to the game. I've been on a murder/side-quest grind spree and haven't even talked to the oracle of delphi yet.

There are quests that ask you to kill leaders and win conquest battles. Additionally, you can farm them for experience, money, equipment, and mercenaries. It's also a good way to practice playing your character.

I have not noticed whether it affects available quests in the area or not.

Seems more like it's meant to be a cherry that you put on top of your murder sundae after you get done ransacking all of the nation's forts/camps/leaders.

Conquest has no impact on story. Just side stuff.

They're good for role play, too. If you think your character should be ticked off about something one side or the other has done lately, you can take part in the battle for the other side. I mostly use them to restore Athens' power after I've slaughtered half their army in order to retrieve various trinkets for people.

P.S. I wish it would ask whether or not I want to bring my pet in. I don't think even an alpha bear has much chance of surviving one of those.

I like how it changes the ownership of the city-state that you fought for. I'm guessing you were asking about story changes though. When i first started playing i actually started converting all the zones i had been in to Athenian control just for fun. And i was mad when a few days later the previous zone i was in went from Athenian control back to Spartan control. But after thinking about it i actually liked that zones could flip from Sparta to Athens and back without me doing anything about it. Makes it feel like the game doesnt revolve around me in that small part of it.

They're handy to clear up your bounty in a region without having to bother with sponsors. Axes do wonders in them with the Overpower chaining so they never last too long. And well, if you need Spartan/Athenian Polemarch seals, it's one way to get the ones you need in power and/or respawn them after you cleared the forts if you don't feel like moving to another region.

They can do, stay next to the bear to protect him. If he's in an open space for a while his health can regenerate.

I just do them for the goody bag at the end. Sometimes, there are cookies.

Seriously, they don't serve much of a purpose to the game as a whole, other than to give the player an extra way of getting XP and loot. Even if you change all red areas to blue (and vice versa), the in-game mechanics make it possible for any work you do to change back at any time. So, it's a little like mowing the yard, really ... in a week, it's going to need done again.

Huh, no wonder they're always hiring the misthios to do the grunt work. Repetition tends to suck.

Some quests require Conquest Battles, but other than that they're there for loot, XP, and some RP if you're inclined. The only territories that can't be controlled are Sparta and Athens proper, however there is a side quest involving Conquest Battles in those areas, though ownership doesn't change, you just get special loot an a Legendary spear from it.
Is fun but in this game there are only two side [ only two colors ] actually in the history fact there are two legues the Peloponnesian league and Spartan league in each league combine with many city state [ colors ] if this game make each city state unique in each uniform it would be more fun .

There is no point to conquest battles, except that sometimes it's a quick & easy way to complete a bounty, such as if you have a bounty like "kill 20 Spartan soldiers."

But definitely the conquest battles is an under-cooked mechanic that needs much further development.

Hello,

You are a ruthless mercenary that doesn't belong to any particular side, Sparta or Athens. You can choose to fight with who pays you, but no there is no faction favoring system.

You can find out more about conquest battles Here[support.ubi.com].
