It's also annoying that Ubisoft doesn't allow players to remove location icons from the map and have them stay off. It really takes away the sense of exploration, especially when going to new areas, and seeing where every POI location is plotted on the map. I feel disappointed when I start up my save and every time I go to the map, I have to consciously make sure to hide all location icons every single time, or else I am shown where every undiscovered location is.
I wish I could save the option to not show location icons on the map, especially ones I haven't discovered yet, otherwise it eliminates any sense of discovery and curiosity when looking at the map. It would be so much more engaging to be able to truly explore and discover new locations without them being innately marked. That is not exploring, it is hand holding. Ubisoft even took the time to dedicate two different "discovery" modes between Guided and Exploration, and yet besides for quests info (which is gives incorrect directions some of the time), both modes are identical and neither allows players to truly explore if they want to.
