IMO the romance system in Odyssey is pretty bad. One second you are talking to an NPC about her dying father the next you are all like "report to my ship, we'll bang ok?". I played Skyrim and Fallout 4 and Bethesda cant seem to get it right either, though it is slightly better there however still too generic. Bioware does it a lot better like in Star Wars the Old Republic and also Dragons Age Inquisition. Ubisoft doesnt seem to know how to transition from you and an NPC having a serious conversation to a flirty conversation. It was so bad in Odyssey that after romancing like 2 NPC's i stopped entirely cause it just felt too forced.
Ohh i do have a funny story about the second romance option i did. There is this couple on an island and you get to chose if you want to romance the guy or gal. The guy is a soldier and you help him and i forget what the girl does. I was playing as Kassandra and i decided to romance the girl. The very last part of the romance chain we are on a beach and are getting ready to bang right there on the spot. We were talking all romantic to each other getting ready to engage in some tongue to tongue combat, the sun was setting so the sky was all orange-like, pretty typical movie romance stuff. But then the funniest thing happened while we were talking, a ship sails past in the background of the cutscene really close to the coast and the men were singing. The song that they were singing? "erecto erecto ereeeeeeecto"
Ha, jeez even in games lesbians can't catch a break with guys can they?
I agree about things feeling a bit forced. Not sure I've ever had a conversation where after just meeting someone they go straight to: I can't not have you in my life! Stay with me!?
Erm, nah you're alright.
