And yes, like CursedPanther said 80C is whitin normal operation range for CPU's but why subject your CPU to those high temps iin the first place if the actual game doesn't push it that far and all that excess stress and heat is caused by Ubisofts terrible decision to use not one but two DRM software in the same product?
IMO a terrible and scummy disregard for their customers from Ubisoft, especially since they didn't even bother to remove the DRM after the game was cracked (and if I'm not mistaken they still haven't removed it from Origins even though that game has been cracked years ago).
Shadowbo is missinformed about Vmprotect and Denuvo being the cause. People who know of which they speak, and have actually tested it, point the finger elsewhere. Here is one report: https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/assassins-creed-origins-denuvo-vs-denuvo-free-benchmarks-significantly-less-stuttering-faster-loading/ Here is another: https://github.com/kaldaien/SpecialK/releases/sk_odyssey
They may not like Denuvo and Vmprotect. Yet they dont blame DRMs for the over worked CPU.
This game also uses AVX-instructions so that can be the cause for higher temps too :)
First of all, Denuvo was debunked as being a resource hog. Vmprotect wasn't and will never be (because everybody who knows what a virtual machine is and how it actually increases CPU usage especially if you are already close to minimum system specs for running the game knows this).
Second, framerate was never the issue here (neither mine or the OP's). The issue here is the constant 100% usage when playing Odyssey, which leads to higher temps and - depending on what CPU cooling is available (stock cooler, custom etc) - noise generated by the cooler can also become a problem.
So while your post is not completely wrong (except in Vmprotect's case), it's also not helpful (especially when you seem to think the issue the OP was posting about was framerate, when it was clearly high temps and completely not normal CPU usage). It's also weird that you start your post with "PC maintanence tip no.1" and expect anyone who games on PC not to know that a PC needs to be regulary cleaned and dust removed.
Also, you fail to realize that these CPU problems (that have been mentioned many times since AC Origin launched and they still continue to be mentioned even now for AC Odyssey) only happen when playing these 2 games. Are you suggesting dust magically appears when playing these two games and also magically vanishes when you stop playing them and start playing any other freakin' game that doesn't use 2 DRM's? Because that would be ridiculous.
No matter how much you try to paint it otherwise, the issue will always be Vmprotect (as the main culprit) in conjunction with Denuvo, left in the game even though it no longer serves any purpose because Ubisoft can't be bothered to actually care for their customers for a change (hell, the very article you linked pretty much draws the conclusion that pirates are getting a better experience then Ubisoft customers like me and you who actually paid hard earned cash for it - I bought it at launch from Steam at full launch price; do I need to buy it from Uplay too before Ubisoft will actually fix the problem they created when they chose to have 2 DRM's in this game?).
And yes, the game is playable from start to finish and I have completed it. Does that mean I enjoyed my CPU being at 100% the entire time and having extra heat and noise from the cooler trying to keep up because of the Vmprotect+Denuvo combo? Hell no. And I will call Ubisoft out for having one of the worst DRM solution in the entire industry (especially since it's useless for stopping anything but launch and first couple of months piracy).
And it should always be removed once it's done what it was meant to do and the game was cracked. Simple as that.
No i'm not exaggerating, it pulls that many drawcalls.
