Male NPC's are so gayly.
What the hell is wrong with this game, I'm not against same sex relationships and that's a good thing to see Ubisoft trying to put this into the game but these guys are doing it wrong, I literally haven't encountered a MANLY man except Nikolaos so far, I mean look, bisexual people always been around and will always be, thats a fact everyone accepts but come on Ubisoft, thats a time period around those badass soldiers yet every single NPC I interact has that shining eyes, hands placed on their wrists posing like women.. If there was only a few of them, okay, I can take that but you're doing it wrong dude, I was expecting more badass NPC's in this game more than any other AC games because of the era and concept but all I come across is some pretty dudes winking at me after every single quest. nibba pls

As for NPC sexuality in this game, I rather suspect that Kassandra's the 'canon' character but that the developers felt that anybody playing Alexios should have the option of a basically identical playthrough to a Kassandra playthrough if they want, down to banging the same people (with the one obvious exception in "Legacy of the First Blade', for that whole duty-to-preserve-the-special-bloodline bit, given that they probably didn't want to invent an Isu-built clone factory and somehow explain how Alexios could operate it). Kassandra's appealing to a horny blacksmith? Then make the blacksmith fawn over Alexios, too, just add some different dialogue but no need for different character models or additional plot. It's very practical from a software development point of view.

Hell, they even let Alexios become head of the Daughters of Artemis, and the dialogue on meeting Kyra has her wondering whether he's Athena in disguise. I'm fairly sure that Alexios doesn't qualify as a daughter of anybody and I'm not aware of any myths involving Athena posing as a man... although with weirdness like Zeus shapeshifting into a swan and having sex with a woman in that form, I wouldn't conclusively rule it out.

Perhaps, if the OP is looking for 'manly men', there is a force that might have been around as early as when this game is set, and were definitely around about 50 years later. There are three notable engagements:

Firstly, at the beginning of the Boeotian War, they were facing the Spartans, which had a reputation of being utterly invincible, but actually managed to intimidate them into retreating without actually engaging.

Secondly, there is the Battle of Tegyra, where 300-500 men (the size of this force at the time is disputed) defeated a Spartan force that was at least twice the size, possibly more (varying accounts say it was anything between 1,000 and 1,800). This was a key battle that destroyed the myth of Spartan invincibility.

Thirdly, there was the battle of Leuctra, where they played a key part in a force of 6,000 defeating, yet again, a Spartan force of 12,000.

What was this force? The Sacred Band of Thebes - made entirely of homosexual couples.

Nonononono, you get me wrong, like I said, in my opinion same sex relationship actually made the game more interesting until some point, also I definitely encountered some interesting and fun characters like Alkibiades but just because it's okay to be gay or lesbian or whatever and people should accept/respect that, doesn't mean they have to push it to the limits and design %80 of the characters like "cuties" right? I can show Lykaon, Lykinos and his brother Timotheos as an example. I also just met Brasidas, the kind of NPC's I expect, even if he is gay, at least they didn't try to make him look like a cute soft guy like many others, made me shed some tears. That was my point dude. I'm not here to play "hey look, we respect LGBT and we will* shove it into your eyes". It's not like I dislike the game or I'm negative about it, I'm addicted to this right now, made me give a break to an MMO I've been playing during all my PC time. I just wanted to make a comment on their exaggeration.

i don't think anyone here is ranting. did you read everything posted here? lgbtq gamers should have the same complaint. if game developers are going to add romance and adult themes to games, they need to start being a bit more subtle and adult about it. no one wants it pushed in their face do they? that's how you end up with a baby out of nowhere that nobody wanted.

actually, the OP is a rant. The first sentence is "what the hell is wrong with this game" that is a rant. It's ranting about an aspect of the game that triggers his homophobia (the homophobia that says masculine bro sex is fine on the DL but sissy queer sex is not OK)

Also there's that one spartan in that burning house that fights with you that's totally badass and hot, hoping he comes back, forgot his name tho', it was like 30 hours ago.

I think you're overreacting a bit.

I'll say that the romance is meaningless tho', there was one blue quest with two brothers that was sorta more well done, but overall, it's really really shallow, and most of the times even pointless.

Brasidas is the name of the badass dude in the warehouse fight. :ACODC_Crest:

I find it so sad that the reality is that so many people have a problem with minor things such as feminine men. But many men and women made their money from their bodies and because of this many of them would look the part as best as they could.

And also minor note in most games the females are the eye candy but in this game most of the men are also eye candy too. There are plenty of rough and handsome looking women in this game.

To me personally it’s a well balance when it comes to how people actually would look especially if the main purpose of life back then was staying alive and having protecting. I don’t want to say this was the time of bisexuality but in reality it was.

As far as you coming off a bit of a homophobic; I would say that is more of gender based bias. Because in reality most games push heterosexual norms on to people. This one just gives people the option of appreciating both sexes, because there are plenty of beautiful women all throughout the game.

Beauty back then was appreciated and could be had by both men and women as you can see from all the statues throughout the game. It’s more equal opportunity than anything else; if it is making you feel slightly uncomfortable there is most likely a reason for it.

You got to dig a little deeper to get to the root of that little flaw that you keep finding.

I agree with the OP. For example, Lysander (the guy who gives the recurring "collect three Athenian polmarch stamps") is not a love interest but his hand and head movements and gestures are effeminate to the point of distraction.
In the Brother's quest, I was totally surprised at the wimp brother wanting to get with Kassandra. I am sure he was there for Alexios.
And then there's Alkibiates

Brasidas being a real dude along with Lysander and just about everyone else in the plot... it is AC after all.

Well non-hetero people get your hetero stuff pushed in their faces all the time... :steamflake:

As for the topic, poor "manly" man... :)

Acceptable maybe, but until the majority of people are gay, its not normal.
