Off Hand Weapon Damage?
I realize you get engravings from the off hand weapon but do you get any damage? Other than wanting to use it in a weapon switch is there any reason to spend gold on upgrading? I don't think the basic engravings increase with level.

Yes, the engravings do upgrade with weapon level. If your offhand weapon is supporting your build, then it makes sense to upgrade it. If I recall correctly, engravings will raise to the next tier at levels 21, 31, 41, 51 and 61, respectively.

Hmm, I question that. I use my offhands for unique stats, with three I carry for different situations; underwater, 100% damage/25% health, and 25% damage to elites.

I'm 63, they are 40-47.

Just last night I wanted to see if leveling increased the stats. I leveled one from 47 to 63 and not one stat, of 4 changed, so I loaded the previous save.

I'll try again tonight with all 3.

JUST TESTED: Leveling the weapon doesn't upgrade engraving stats.

Engraving stats are upgraded by completing 'x of something' tasks associated with the engraving. In inventory click on the engraving icon and mouse over the engraving. It will show what you need to do for the next tier.

Repost for clarity: you are correct, engravings don't go up with level, but by completing tasks associated with the engraving.

I keep three secondary weapons that I do not level with me for unique stats. I am 63, they are all in their 40's. You get all the stats applied from a single weapon in the second slot, even if you are not using it. If there is a damage stat, you get it. Example: underwater breathing from the Poseidon Trident applies even if it is not currently in your hand.

I should've been more clear; the player applied engraving doesn't level with with the weapon but all of the weapon's intrinsic engravings, as well as its base damage modifier, do. The exception to this being legendary engravings, which never change. Moreover, the intrinsic engravings will increase tiers as the weapon's level increases, regardless of wether or not you've unlocked higher tiers for player applied engravings.

For example: An epic has a base damage modifier (buff hunter/warrior/assassin) and two engravings, all three of which will increase with the weapon's level.

First TY for your feedback. There seem to be two opinions here that conflict. Either they do go up with level OR only with completing tasks. Which is it??? I know that the player applied engraving can change and you have to reapply it to get the change. I am more concerned with the base engravings that come with the item. Sorry if I didn't clarify that. Again thanks.

You get more damage and life when leveling up.

The engravings that come with weapons get better with level up. The player-engraved ones get better when you complete the related tasks. For example, Epic weapons come with 3 engravings. These get better when you level up and don't depend on any tasks. The fourth slot is for the engravings players add which, as mentioned before, get better when you complete the related tasks. Legendary engravings are an exception as they don't change based on your level or any task (the same legendary engravings also don't stack, which makes sense that they don't depend on your level).

Ah, that's probably why my test didn't show. The one's I applied did not level and the one's that came with the weapon were already leveled up.

This is very good to know, having just started over. Thanks.
