BUT, upgrade costs have a max ceiling. So upgrading a level 5 item to 50 is not more expensive then upgrading a level 30 one.
In the late game when you swim in thousands of materials you can easily upgrade rthose sets to max again.
Thanks for the information.
I am still paying several hundred Leather, Iron and obsidian glass. It is still way too much low to mid level. To the point that I regret buying them at all.
You are exactly right. That is a big problem for me as I feel that I should have gotten something useful for the entire game with what I already bought.
If you never buy any nice-looking stuff, you don't feel like you need to upgrade so it's not a problem.
that depends on the difficluty, on easy you can easily just upgrade your gear every 12 levels but anyway the further you are in the game the more ressources you get and the upgrade costs also get lowered by your progression in the mercenary tree.
in my opinion the current upgrade costs are fine, i mean you can not expect to upgrade your gear without to collect the ressources first and if you just want to wear your legendary set from the helix store then you dont need all the other gear you get by playing the game anyway so you can dismantle att of that or sell some and dismantle the rest.
you get tons of iron form mines and tons of wood from naval battles, the only ressource which is harder to get is leather which you can buy if you have the money or for which you can hunt or dismantle gear.
i honestly do not think that the upgrade costs would be significantly lower when the game would not have microtransactions.
I never said that I expected to upgrade every level, but I was not able to afford the upgrade and the gear is no longer usable.
I was talking the lower levels, where the upgrade prices are completely out of balance with the amount of resources you can gather. I can tell you reading other forums on this topic I am not alone thinking that the upgrade prices for gear packs purchased with real money are too high.
People do buy this gear for the look, which is the whole purpose of buying it.
If there were not micro-transactions then there would be no need to prevent the gear from leveling up.
The upgrade price seems to be based upon the rarity of the gear. While it is much cheaper for normal gear, it still feels off when you buy gear and it becomes relatively useless fairly quickly.
if there would be no MT's then you still would have to upgrade your gear for a certain cost from which i do not think that it would be significantly lower, i do not know a single game in which your gear upgrades with your level for free and especially in the AC series ressource costs for upgrades are there since a time before MT's came into the singleplayer.
Edit: but yeah, on the original point, that would make it really annoying to buy gear you want to just have always at lower level to have to keep upgrading it. Sucks man.
