Weird Grainy/Mesh graphics
Hello to all.

I have no idea what's going on with this game, but for some reason there seems to be a sort of mesh effect messing up what would otherwise be a beautiful looking game.

It's something I've noticed only in this game.

It's very noticeable when hiding inside bushes and they become transparent, instead of there being a clean transparency effect, there's like this weird dithering effect, which makes it look grainy or like some sort of Mesh. It's almost as if it can't process real transparencies (yet other solid objects become normally transparent when they get up close to the camera).

It's also noticeable throughout the whole distant background, as the LOD seems to fade out, there's like this whole mesh effect that covers the scenery, which looks very ugly.

Frankly it's driving me mad, since I've tinkered with all the ingame settings (including Nvidia's control panel) and I can't make it go away.

I'm running the game at 1080p with all settings to High or Very High except Volumetric Clouds.

The system I'm running on is a GTX 1060 6GB, i7 2600K and 16GB DDR3, Win10.

Here are some screenshot links, that better illustrate what I'm talking about:

Please, if anyone has any idea of what this is and how to fix it, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Very odd, i don't have this issue but fire in my game looks terrible. It's so pixelated especially from afar, which is odd cause Origin's fire looks real.

When it comes to LOD i do gey popins sometimes and rather terrible looking trees. The game is not optimized/coded very well in terms of performance. But luckily I've never crashed.

ive noticed that as well and have heard others complain about it too. things become very pixilated up close when hiding in bushes. i think i actually remember it being on their list of known issues they were looking into and yes the fire does look terrible in this game but it also did early on in origins until ubi fixed it so hopefully that will get fixed here too eventually. i remember it being a problem in origins too.

I have the mesh look when close up on bushes. Frankly, it doesn't bother me that much, but I have a high tolerance. fx 8370 16 gig ram rx580 8gig- obviously my cpu holds me back so that could be part of it.

Any chance you have MFAA enabled in Nvidia control panel?

Yes, same happens to me and ys, fire looks pixelated, it's uhly,
nvidia drivers updated, 1080p, same
MFAA makes the game even more pixelated

Thanks for all your replies.

Yup, that was actually one of the first things I checked. All Nvidia Global settings are at default settings off / application controlled.

I also tried downgrading the Nvidia drivers from the latest version to an older 2017 version, and no change was noticed (on a side note, the 2017 drivers perform better in this game... oddly enough).

For me the issue is not only in the "transparent" bushes, it's also present throughout the whole background in the far distance.

I noticed that imgur softens the images significantly, so one of my earlier examples can't be seen as well. Here's another image zoomed in, so that you can appreciate what I'm talking about a little better:

Any ideas?

What's your anti-aliasing setting, resolution, and resolution scaling?

AA High
Res 1080p
Res Scaling 100%

I've tried all settings from low to very high and made no difference.
I've also ran the game in 4K res and the dithering/mesh effect is still there.

There is no fix, it's not a bug, it's the way the engine is designed. Dithering is easier for the engine. I hate it, but it's the way they have designed the game, same in Origins and Valhalla.

Damn, last 2 posts are years apart. Talk about necroing a thread dude. :steamfacepalm:

Anyway, Based on OP's SS. It could be 3 things. A driver issue, the GPU itself has something going on, or it could just be the graphic settings if adaptive quality is on and the way its handling shadows, AO, and DoF.

I have same series GPU as OP and never once experienced this. Game looked and ran great.

Hey guys,

Thank you for your updates and insights.

As this is an old thread I am now going to lock the thread but if you have any trouble in the future then just let us know in a new thread and we will be happy to help.
