I don't have a main quest... wth?

I haven't had a main quest for a while now.. The last thing I think was part of it was killing Elpenor in a cave. I remember something about my mother, but I don't have any quests and don't know where I'm supposed to go. Is this normal?

I passed that main quest a couple days ago. A new quest should pop up straight after that or maybe that just happened to be due to the diaglogue I chose so maybe complete side quests then when you reach a certain level a new one might pop up. But I don't think that was suppose to happen to report it to Ubisoft Support.

That same thing happened to me, but I don't think the main quest indicator just disappeared as I still have new quests pop-up, just further down in the list - I think until you clear some of those the main questline is just on hiatus. I could be wrong, but I doubt it is a bug or anything.

Just on the off chance you haven't checked yet: there should be a section of your quest log for main story quests. And there should be at least one entry in it. (At the point you say you're at, I'd guess one entry at most.) If you select it, it should tell you what you need to do next. It's almost certainly going to tell you you need to visit the Oracle at Delphi, which IIRC should be at the top of a cliffside path north of where you killed Elpenor.

Alternately, check your map. There should be at least one exclamation point inside a diamond, shimmering gold in color. If you don't see either of those, well, just try visiting the Oracle. Or, just visit question marks and explore the world.

I did all that - I'm pretty sure mine went AWOL after I reached Athens. It seems to tie into the major quest boxes on the right side and even though the first box indicates there are more quests in that line, there aren't any listed on the left for now - as I previously said, I think it will come back once the story progresses more.

I'm not 100% sure what's going wrong, then. You're correct that each box on the right corresponds to a quest chain. My best guess is still that there was an NPC you were supposed to visit, that you somehow bypassed on your way to Athens.

You said you killed Elpenor. If you go back to the snake temple, is his body still there? Is it sparkling?

What did you see when you visited the Oracle at Delphi? Did you meet Herodotus? What did he say? Did you see any other golden quest symbols near Delphi on your map?

Did you go north from Phokis? You can climb the mountains, but another popular route involves a cave system near its northern border. That should have taken you to the Hot Gates of Thermopylae. That's a location you should recognize, including from real history. Did you meet Herodotus there, after you met him at Delphi?

When the OP never returns even once to a thread, it's easy to guess what happened. At least others with a similar problem can use it to troubleshoot.

Doing the 'gold diamond shaped' quests are necessary to progress a lot of things, so it's important to do those anytime you see them.

If someone is in too much of a hurry to do those, you're playing the wrong game.

Hi, thanks for replying. I haven't played the last week or so, been too busy, and game also crashes a lot so it's discouraging.
I do remember the cutscene with Elpenor. I had already been to the oracle and Herodotus. I even went to the oracle's home and spoke to her. But I don't recall seeing Herodtotus again..? I know I was supposed to ask someone where my mother is, but I don't know who. There is no Odyssey quest in my questbook. The icon on the right says my mother still lives: Related quests: Of visions and visionaries.
after looking online, I recall that I was supposed to infiltrate the cult of kosmos, but I don't have a quest for that either. ugh. I also have a terrible memory so this is probably my fault...

From what I remeber, you should reunite with Heterdorus after meeting with the oracle, then go to the oracle's house, and reunite with heterdorus again where he'd give you clues (?) that leads you to getting a cloak that allows you inflitrate the cultist's meeting. The story then continues after you inflitrated their meeting and gathered info about the cult.

I think I found what's wrong. After speaking to the oracle at her home, I didn't get the quest to speak to Herodotus. I guess I'll go talk to her again.

Hmm... That's weird... Do you remeber where did he say you guys should meet?

Or try and find the doors to the meeting place, Herodotus should be around there I think.

I went back to her but couldn't see her again. I walked around the whole area trying to find Herodotus. I saw a picture of him online by a silo nearby her house to meet him, I finally found him, but when I spoke to him, it went black then opened the cutscene from the Temple! it gave me the older cutscene I'd already seen, and when it done I was back at the temple, magically! wtf, hah. ugh. I guess I need to contact support.

Probably... Maybe you sank into a loophole that was created when the game tried to play back the old cutscene so you could go meet the oracle, but since you have met her, she is now not at where she should be, and thus the game got stuck?

Possibly what happened to your game... Wish you luck with getting help tho.
