Endgame and Features Suggestions
Hello! I want to start by saying that Assassin's Creed Odyssey is truly a gem, a masterpiece of a game. But all precious gems can be polished further to extend their lifetime (and sales figures).

So here are some of my suggestions to prolong the already long lifespan of our odyssey:

1. A skirmish function that will allow the player to fight against hostile troops alongside their crew anywhere on the world map.
There could be a button in either the quest log or map section to "Harass" or "Raid" region with the info box saying: "Send your crew out to strike military targets in the region to start a skirmish at your current location. A successful skirmish will weaken region power."

-Would summon your crew and lieutenants to face off against an equal or outnumbering amount of hostile troops and their elites at the player's exact location. All mercenaries hunting the player would also show up.

-Player should get X bounty levels for raiding the region.

-Region power should be lowered by X amount.

-You would finally see your custom crew on land battling the local forces in a skirmish. (Smaller than a regular battle)

-We could finally have land battles on islands.

-This would allow the player to use all those beautiful vistas created around the world of AC Odyssey. We could finally battle in Thermopylai, or why not on top of a mountain? Or in some exotic ruins? Player imagination would be the only limit! No more would we be restricted by generic quests sending us to premade locations. We would get to fight anywhere. This would be the most important feature of this new system. Just imagine the possibilities!

2. Allow the player to own and manage property.

-We could buy a mansion in a region to act as a homebase and from which we could purchase further properties such as mines, farms, and outposts.

-Mines would generate Drachmae, Iron Metals, and Precious Gems.
-Farms would generate Olive Wood, Soft Leather, and a small amount of Drachmae.
-Military buildings and outposts would generate Obsidian Glass.

-Player would need to clear the objective before being able to purchase it.

-What would these be for? Well... the construction of your own temple of course!
-Player would get to chose which deity to be at the altar of the temple.
-Temple should cost somewhere around 1 million Drachme, 20 000 Iron and Leather, 50 000 Wood, 5000 Obsidian and Gems.
-Upon completing construction the player would be able to pray at the temple once a week to gain a "free" ability point.

3. Allow us to finally join a side in the conflict.
-Purchase citizenship for 100 000 Drachme or do X number of battles for a side to be granted citizenship.
-You would be able to walk in restricted areas of your allied nation, and loot them. (Nation power should not be lowered when the player performs certain actions)
-Friendly fire would be off, so you can't damage allied soldiers.
-Hostile nation will attack you on sight.
-Can revert to neutral stance at any time. But would be have to pay or do X number of battles for citizenship again.
-Feature should only be accessible once the story has been completed.

Suggestions for advanced and interconnected features of the above systems:

-Lieutentants when wounded in battle (when they crouch down) would not be able to fight for X number of ingame days, forcing the player to replace them with another lieutenant. Would keep the player from overusing overpowered lieutenants and bring a fresh breeze of change once in a while.

-Player properties can be raided by bandits, certain cults, or if you have allied with a faction, then the opposing faction can raid your property if they control the region. (Which would create a reason for you to keep certain regions under your faction's control)
-Player can station lieutenants at property to increase defence value.
-Owning military property will increase defence value of all property and the number of soldiers guarding them.
-Guard type will match the player's crew type.
-Player will get a message when a property is being raided so they can go and defend it. If they opt to not defend it, an autoresolve will take place.
-A successful raid will visually alter the player's property to a desolate condition and any income or function from that property will be rendered inert until X ingame days or until the player pays for repairs.
-Raids should not be too frequent to keep them from becoming a nuisance. (Perhaps they could be the result of player actions, such as killing a large number of bandits, cultists, or hostile forces will bring retaliatory strikes)

Bonus endgame feature: Buy Kephallonia for 5 000 000 Drachmae.
-Player would be defacto leader of Kephallonia.
-Various statues and stuff to build to create a prosperous Kephallonia (and to create an endgame money and resource sink). (Or run it into the ground by creating a dystopian hell)
-Player would occasionally need to rule in legal cases.
A: He stole my goat!
B: I have a family to feed!
Player: I sentence you both to death.

That was a long piece of text. Sorry. What are your thoughts about the above? Can they be implemented?

Also found this on reddit discussing similar things: https://www.reddit.com/r/assassinscreed/comments/a7who0/why_is_all_the_basebuilding_gone/

Basically it would be cool to have a feature where we could spend drachmae in the game world to change it.

Really cool ideas. I like most of them , it would add some cool features and ways to spend drachmae. Are you not granted citizenship after clearing your family name and restoring your house in Sparta?

Careful about spoilers please. I haven't finished and would hate to read the 'last page' in this book.

Yeah the Skirmish system might be the most important of all the features. But some form of basebuilding or way of spending drachmae to change the gameworld would be really cool and good for endgame. We just have so much resources and money and no fun way of spending them.

+1 For endgame ideas; especially for finally choosing a side. I'd even go further with being able to start as a factions base footsoldier and work your way up the ranks towards General, or other special postings, etc.

I'd go further with the player owned location idea in that if you take over a location for your base and it's near the sea you can build a dock as well for your ship.

As it stands currently; I personally wish there was more actual narrative driven Side Quests instead of the infinite and randomly generated "Kill X Bandits", "Assasinate this Character", "Find this item" kind of quests. They're really dull by now and don't bring anything meaningful into the game aside from cheap XP and Drachmae. If there was a A LOT more variation of those quests I wouldn't mind them, but there seem to only be a handful of objectives.

Yeah choosing a side would be good. But might be a hard option to implement. They could do it like they did with The Daughters of Artemis where you can still kill them and such, just they wont attack you when in their restricted areas.
Like a "light mode" joining a faction.

Although all the features you mentioned above will be nice if implemented. I'm still hoping the developer would give more NPC roaming around on the roads outside the city like Origin where we can see peoples pulling cart or travelling merchant or priest.
Heck even roaming bandits are welcome. The road are way too empty for map this huge.

I like the idea of some endless mode, like conquest, mythical creatures,
sieges, etc
endless arena fights
