How bad is the grind? XP boost worth it?
I've heard some people mention a grind. How bad is it? Can you lvl fast enough to play only the main quest-chain? Or, will I fall behind and have to do side quest to catch up? I'm wondering if a XP boost is worth it...

theres no grind if you explore and play the game the way it is intended to be played. you will have more than enough money and resources if you just do the missions explore and have fun. no need for xp boosters at all in this game.

Certain people complain about a 'grind' becuz they play an open-world game like a linear game and expect the game to carry them all the way through. Most of them are so-called professional reviewers who play games as a job rather than for enjoyment thus rushing through the basic content and make an essay/video outta it.

Take part in at least half of the side missions the game offers and you're already swimming in game money and experience.

Do any RPG's allow that? If you play the game you'll be leveled up without the need for a boost. If you want to skip a huge chunk of the game, then you might want to consider if the boost is worth it.

although you still can not just play the main quest with that boost, at least not if that has not changed.

my thing is. if you only want to play main quest, why get a game like this. its not meant to be played rushed through. just get another game thats short to play instead of rushing through this gorgeous fun game.

Although I love to play, I'm a family man with little time. I get to play a couple hours a week at best. If a game takes 40hrs to complete, then that means I'm spending a good portion of the year on that ONE game. Can't do that.

Again I ask...

No it's not.
Exp is too much. Booster is redundant.

P.S. edit : That is if you complete everything in the area around you.

If you have no time to explore, or visit all the interesting point one by one, you'll be out-level pretty quick.

Then you picked the wrong game as this is everything the opposite of rushing.

Should've chosen CoD for 10 minutes per match.

There is no grinding in this game, it's a myth.

I appreciate that you don't have a lot of time to sink into games. Unfortunately, many games are made to take up large amounts of your time. 40 hours isn't even considered a long game. You are actually better off putting all of your limited time into one game instead of an hour here and there in several games. You'll enjoy one game that way, the other way you won't enjoy any of them. You might want to try games that are not open world or rpg, that are shorter and more linear. The Bioshock games, Dishonoured games, to name a couple, take 20 hours or so to finish.

Then this is the wrong game for you. Main story alone will keep you busy for 50 hours or more and cant be done much faster, even with the exp booster.
If you do the side content its easily over a 100 hours.
This is one of the longest games i played in years, pretty much on the same length level as Witcher 3 or comparable.

Plenty of xp. Could use money booster though.

I feel like this is a troll honestly considering I'm like level 35 on my first run of the game and have nearly 200k from the gear that I've sold, particularly because I'm making a point to leave engraving and gear boosting until I'm at 50. 70 if they get NG+ up before then. But I suppose if you're buying gear or upgrading things every few levels, money could be a bit hard to come by... also if you salvage all your gear. I did that right up until a story quest needed 15k, so I ran to a blacksmith, sold everything I wasn't using, and honestly had the 15k in vendor trash because I had literally never once been to a shop.

There is no grind but if you have limited time to play, this isnt a game for that.

The best way to play Odyssey is with a mindset of meandering exploration. If you stick to the story quests and MAIN sidequests (with gold icons) (not the small fetch bounty board quests which number in the hundreds and are randomly generated) you will have fun and level fine. I also am a family man and have maybe 10hrs perweek to play but i am enjoying my play through. I havent come up against any grind. The experience has been smooth for me at least. The main issue for me has been resource aquisition, there are a ways around this though. XP is not a problem.

If you do have to do side some side quests it won't suck up all your time and they are often connected to the story anyway. It's really just more game. It's all about the journey anyway right? None of us here seem to have bought the boost so. I would say you don't need it.
To those who offered meaningful information, thank you.
